Usually the shop will adjust your Din according to your weight, hieght, sole legnth of your boot, and your skiing ability (ranked 1,2,3)
Based of that people sometimes crank there din up higher to prevent pre release. Cause sometimes in extreme situations it's safer to make sure you skis DON'T come off, rather then save your knee. (ie big mountain situations) or hitting massive booters.
i rode at 8.5 on salomans, and ride at 7.5 on my looks, and haven't had too many problems yet, with pre prelease, they came off when they needed to, so im not gonna crank them up unless i need to.
^no offense but that seems a little excessive, particularly if you're only skiing wv. I'm 190 and I ski at 10, I'm actually thinking about dropping it on my park skis there are times when learning a trick i'd rather have my skis come off than kill my skins, or God forbid my knees.
