So im a huge F1 fan and finally someone else other than Ferrari has won the constructor's and the driver's championship. I happened to be in Italy last week, in Milan to be more specific, which is only about 30 minutes away from Monza. This italian guy was trying to tell me that Ferrari slowed their car down this year to make things more intresting to watch because the other investers were losing money. Is this even possible? Would Bernie Ecelstone and Ross Brawn stoop that low?
I really doubt that they'd do something like that just to liven things up. I mean, if you were totally dominating Formula 1, would you slow down so other teams could beat you?
No, there were new restrictions set forth this season that took some of Ferrari's "edge" away from them. They were imposed to even things up I get the feeling
There is no way Ferrari slowed their car down so others could make more money. In any interview with Ross Brawn or Jean Todt you can see how utterly disappointed they were with this season and how they will work towards dominating again in 2006.
It is great to see someone else win it, although I wish it had been Kimi and McLaren instead.
how do you know? are you the one that made the decision? though not so u have absolutly no clue and no reason to input on this subject unless you know for a fact. your opinion is NO, but your facts are non
So to make things more interesting, Ferrari spent more money than any other team (Over 400 million euros) to go slowly. And they rushed production of the F2005 ahead two races for what purpose? To give the illusion again that they are trying to be competitive but really just want other teams and sponsors to take the glory?
Who else does Marboro sponsor? no one.
Who else does Vodafone sponsor? no one.
Who else does AMD sponsor? no one.
Who else does Shell sponsor? no one.
They would instead want everyone else to make the money. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Obviously Italian fans are going to come up with ideas to why their beloved Ferrari didn't dominate again.
Thats like saying Steinbrenner and the Yankees conspire with Bud Selig every year to not win and make baseball more interesting, but, to make sure the illusion is complete, continue to spend more than anyone else in the sport on their team.
haha, no way.. that is so stupid, just realize that ferrari isn't the fastest team out there now.. and i heard somewhere that schumacher was going to drive for mclaren next year. but im not sure?
rumors rumors rumors. schumacher will be in a Ferrari next year, and likely for however long he wants to be. Although there are many options for Ferrari come 2007 so who knows. For next year definitely not.
its nothing new for race/event organisers to impose restrictions on technology to level the playing field for all those invloved. Every automobile race has very specific limitations on every aspect of the vehicles. Even golf has club restrictions and hocky restricts the length of the sticks the players use. While ferrari may have had to make changes to meet the race criteria (which in turn would slow their car down) its very unlikely they would have decided to do on their own.
they didnt take away their edge, other companies just finally caught up, its fair for every1, i still think with the rules from last year that they wouldnt have won this year, they had no chance this year. i went a couple years ago toa f1 race in canada, my last name is the same as david coulthards! my dad always tells people its his brother but he doesnt have one, he was born in england tho so that would explain that we are somehow related
well even though i don't believe that they slowed on purpose, you would be surprised what sort of politics can do to a sport like this. so it is certainly an interesting question.
well it was like this, schumachers will be driving for ferrari next year, but then his contract ends, and Räikkönen has signed for ferrari. starting 2007.. schumacher had some meetings with mclaren. so they think he is going to switch to mclaren, but then again.. it can be rumors!
How do you know Räikkönen has a contract at Ferrari at 2007? It's all speculation, there is no confirmation. I think it is most likely Schumacher will retire at the end of 2006. Ferrari will keep Massa on for 2007 and bring in either Rossi, Alonso or Räikkönen. Its beyond me why Räikkönen would want to switch to Ferrari. Without Schumacher Ferrari will not dominate in the way they have done recently. Schumacher is a great driver but he is a far better developer of a car.
anyone else think schumachers is probably the best car driver of all time? I think for pavement courses he is, although there are some rally drivers that definetly contend
They have written it in swedish newspaper, and i think they have sad it on the television. but i don't know if that was rumors or not, i heard it in the middle of the summer, going to search for the articals and see. In this sports there are so much rumors, and the teams keeps everything secret until the very end. and i read that barrichello is moving to BAR next season..
He's in the top five without a doubt. It's hard to compare, but the only other driver I can think of that would challenge his asphalt skills would be Sebastian Loeb, but he does rally so they can't really be compared. Loeb is a better all-around driver, he dominated the WRC the past two years, but I think Schumacher holds the edge on asphalt.
I had heard that Valentino Rossi was going to make the switch to F1 from MotoGP. Ferrari is dropping Rubins thats a fact, its just a question whos gonna join Schumacher in the second Marlboro Red. I could never see Schumy leaving Ferrari for McLaren, a team that is per-annually embarasing itself with wings falling off, engines letting go, and suspensions shattering.
Haha this reminds me of old NASCAR where there was hardly any restrictions at all. How many laps did that guy win by? I can't remember exactly but it was redonkulously high.
Dude the restrictions on F1 are obscene. Interestingly enough, a lot of F1 drivers have to piss themselves while racing cos they have to take on so many fluids before and whilst racing...
