Does anyone know of any jobs in the banff area? I live east coast canada (NB) and am looking to move out to banff for a year or two (maybe longer who knows) to ski and stuff....was wondering if anyone knows of any good places to look for work, like hotels, ski resorts, restaurants, bars, ski shops, anything. Thanks
Alright...
Working at one of the hills is good in some ways:
Free pass and cheap staff accomodation...
you make minimum wage though, 7$/hr.
Whether you'd chose Lake Louise or Sunshine depends on what kind of skiing you want to do and how close you want to be to Banff.
For a job that pays well in Banff, there's lots but chances are they probably won't include a free pass or accomodation (I'm sure there's exceptions). Then depending on where you want to ski, you either have to have a car or pay for a buss pass.
Lake Louise is 45mins outside of Banff.
Sunshine is 10-15mins(?) outside of Banff.
Norquay is pretty much in Banff but doesn't offer anywhere near the quality of skiing that Sunshine or the lake do.
Sunshine might have some staff accomodation in Banff but I'm not too sure. Lake Louise just got rid of their Banff staff accomodation last I heard.
Obviously living in Banff would provide more partying but less skiing. Living in Lake Louise staff accomodation in Lake Louise is pretty fun (think house party) but it's no Banff for partying. Lake Louise has a couple bars but Banff has tons of bars and 2 clubs so that's what makes Banff superior for partying.
Skiing wise, personally I like Lake Louise more. They don't get the same ammount of snow that Sunshine gets but the terrain at Louise is tougher in my opinion. Not to mention the park at Sunshine is almost non existant whereas the park at Lake Louise is very good.
Anybody feel free to correct me if some of my information is a tad off.
good info, but it all come down to what u want to ski, sunshine or louise, sunshine is better for snow and terrain wiht lots of fun clifs and trees and such but the park is a 3 out of 10 whiel at louise u get a park which i would rate about 8-9 out of 10 and still decent freeride skiing
well ive been to sunshine, louise and norquay and i prefer sunshine, so id probably want to ski there...does anyone know if there is jobs at sunshine right now?
Yes Fun Shines park is shit during the winter, but come spring time when every other hill is either closed down or has already closed their park, Shiner's is open til the end of May. Plus its dope too.
If you go to their website (www.skibanff.com), there is a link under employment; you're a little late for this season, but there may still be some vacancies, check it out.
