Ski graphics influence your buying decision?

I know some people may be swayed to buy a particular ski based on the graphics on the ski. Would it suck to not buy a ski because you genuinely hate the graphics? Say the ski is the length, width, and flex you are looking for but can't bring yourself to buy a lime green ski with a pink base?
I have 2 other very awsome alternatives that I could go with so I'm not too worried.

They do to a certain extent. If you find a sick ski with HIDEOUS graphics, I probably wouldn't buy it, cause there are almost identical skis made from different companies, I don't care what you say. They are basically the same ski.
But if I found a great ski with ok graphics, not amazing, but tolerable, I would get it.
For example I just bought the mojo 80's. They are the ski I was looking for, but I'm not that big of a fan of the graphics, but I could tolerate them

I think they def. matter especially in terms of marketing the ski. An ugly ski will sell worse though I have no hard evidence to back that up...of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Regardless, the appearance of the ski, separate from its functional capabilities remains an important factor in the ski purchaser's decision. It's the first thing they notice. That's not to say it is the sole factor. If a ski possesses functional superiority and is ugly, I would hope it would be selected, as skiing is dependent on performance, not appearance.
That's my 2 cents. :D

Graphics are a big deal. I won't buy a ski if I don't like the color or graphics.

When the graphics change year to year on the same model, but the actual specs stay the same, then yes, graphics matter to me. I have last years white chronics, and I would go buy another pair of white ones over this years black ones.
But buying new skis, ehhhh. Specs first, graphics later only if there are other comparable skis.

are you serious? the graphics on the motherships are why you aren't buying them? Those are the sickest graphics ever. But I would never buy any of this years salomons cause of the graphics

I hope not, thats what snowboarders do. I suppose it will influence girls to buy skis like Roxy or what-not but that doesn't matter anyway because most girls can't ski.

yep. and then drive immeadiatly to the hardward store and buy a case of spray paint, while hiding the skis under blankets in my car. Then I would spray paint them right in the parking lot.

i always but the ski based on specs and how they ski... which means i don't always get the best graphics, but i'm always kinda disappointed by that too... like, these are such nice skis, why didn't they make them look better? I bought 06 MSP's for this year. the graphics are ok. not terrible, not great. I can live with them, but i wish they were a bit more inspired.

the problem is that i'm thinking this years mothership flites may be a pretty good choice. I hear a lot of line bashing and some quality issues with line though. On top of all of that I really really really hate the top sheet and base. There are other options though, arv, and msp. All i'm saying is that the mother ship is the dimensions i was thinking aobout (not need).

^lets say you can get a sick deal on a ski but the catch is that you can't ski them before you buy them. You just have to flex it in the store look at and read about it.

i just bought new ARVs cause i LOVED the graphics and i loved everything about the ski, but i could have gotten ELANs which are pretty much the same exact ski, elan makes armadas, but the graphics really did make the difference
