Short skis will revolution jibbing

Skiers will realize their error of their ways and find that smaller skis are better on rails. Snowboarders use 143's and such. I gurantee that within 5 years skiers will be using 150s on street rails or while doing tech rail tricks. Spinning a 270 onto a street rail with center mounted 180cm skis is far too hard. Shorter, flexier skis will come into the scene and revolutionize street rails. You heard it here first.

So snowboarders using shorter boards aren't professionals?

haha your funny.
the reason snowboards use shorter boards, is because they have WAY more surface area then skis.
and if people are doing 270 on 360 switch up 270 off on 180cm+ skis, it's not the skis man, it's the skier.
There is some truth in your statement with the current breed of skis like the elizabeth / volkl sumo etc.
But on a overall note, i don't see people using 143cm urban skis. There's a reason why skiboarding lost popularity.

longer is deff. where its at.
sure if your 5'10 and ski on 153's you can do 810's onto flat bars butt it looks like ass.

FYI: the fact that your name has the word "snowblades" in it means that nobody on this site will respect anything you say, so dont even try to make intelligent comments.

a snowboadrer that use a 140-150 board for urban usually use a155 160 for park and all mountain riding
so 12.5% smaller if yout ake both extremes.
then again if you put that for a skier, a skier that use a 180 ski could use a 160 cm ski for urabn rails were you dont have much space for in run and or to space on the rail.
I have nothing against that and I,m actually trying to find a pair of 165 for urban cause they are the key for no in run set ups like churchs.
it's logical, but i dont see why skier would use smaler skis on the hill

In some cases the skier isnt capapble of handleing a 175+ ski ...but if your capable as a skier to hit a 40+ foot table then im sure you can go for the longer ski

if you aretalking about me the you are totally wrong, i just want to hit rails that cant be hitted with 180 skis.
when there is 2 metere between the rail and a wall you have to agree that 180 skis arejust as useless as a pair of skiboards in powder

All of you guys are close minded about shorter skis. I am 6'2" and had 164cm skis for rails and they killed it until they snapped. If people want to start spinning onto urban rails with greater proficiency then they need to step down to 150-160cm skis. It will happen in the future and all of you will accept it when the pros start doing it.

Skiing is too concerned with image right now. Kids have to drop 500 on new XXL outerwear every year just to be steezy. It doesn't matter what size your skis are. Yes for big hits you should be using around 180's but for urban you should be using 155's.

and look at ach dropping from tables onto urban rail even with big skis, it's no that sick looking
I'm not telling zach isnt good, just saying that short sis, definatley have some advantages on gettho in runs or rails.
I,d rather see someone on 160 cm ski slide a rail by jumping on i the seeing kids dropping on rail with 180 skis

Number one I don't snowblade, but yes I ride skis that are below my eyes. People are too concerned with what others ride.

the length of skis will balance out in the coming years. so will the width, come to think of it.
but park skiing is simply easier on smoewhat shorter skis, and the urge to ski on the longest skis available is comparable to a tiny man buying a large truck...compensation. maybe the skier is really in love with long skis. and it does look good for sure. but on the other hand, shorter skis don't look bad. and help with rails.
all in all, you won't find me jumping on the 'longest skis possible' bandwagon for park and urban, anyway.

well if ur like 5'3, then 1080s would eb gay, but alot ofpeople like me are 6 feet and long skis are the shit, and perform way better all around

bahahahaa, you just owned yourself dickface. you said "spinning a 270 with center mounted 180+ skis would be way to hard" hahahaha, exactly.......its harder. tanner hall and iannick b NEED somethning harder. theyr pushing the sport with longer skis, which mean harder tricks.
any dumbass could pull a 3 on snowblades. but pullin a 3 with ANT's is quite a bit harder. pro skiers, and regular skiers for that matter, are looking for more of a challenge now. and snowblading isnt exacty what i would call a challenge.

Spinning on long skis isn't any harder in the park, but for street rails shorter skis are needed.

no there not, why would we want shorter skis? it makes the trick cooler. maybe for unskilled kids like you, but for the rest of us, its just a given.

How many of you have 270ed onto street rails? 0, with shorter skis it would be possible for even you mediocre midwest skiers to do it.

(please read, if you really don't wanna read this go to last paragraph for summary)
Why did you post this?
First of all you should have known and if you didn't knot that this thread was going to be flamed to ashes your dumb. If you did congrats for having balls to post on the internet!
I have nothing against snow bladers. Yah I wouldn't personally do it but thats just me, if you like it fine, but don't come on NS (a ski, not snowblade site) and say that skiing is going to be changed by short ass skis. It's highly unlikely that in a few years that many people will change their mind completly about a sport. Can you name any other event, fad, sport that was changed drastically within a few years? No I didn't think so.
As for you views on urban jibbing I think skis will stay ahead in style. Think about it this way. If I jump up and land on a rial with my feet and slide down is that cool? No thats pretty gay (little side fact, there are sneakers with a hard plastic in the arch part that enables you to slide, do some research and you'll find them, their pretty gay) Thats kinda like snowblades. If I skiier can rip up Urban rails and have style doing it can you imagine what they would do on snow blades? Probly over spin and die because it's a lot easier. Snowblading is the sister of skiing, or brother, not meaning to say that your a bunch of girls.
So to sum it up (for those lazy people out there that didn't read) snowblading is easier then skiing, looks less stylish because their short blades on your feet, not big sticks comming off your feet looking like a bad ass x in the air, and it will continue to be the way and choice of true skiiers for many, many years to come.

By the way your thread title is wrong, it should say "Short skis will revolutionize jibbing" not revolution.

That is with a monster lip though, they should just pack snow on the top and throw it off. 150s will allow that.

they prolly snapped because they were too short and you were too heavy and tall so they snapped. if you had bigger skis, they probably wouldnt of snapped.

I know you guys think that with big skis you will be able to pull any dick, but in reality many of are skiing skis that are too big for in the park and it is diminishing your skills.

I weighed 140 when they snapped, that shouldn't have overpowered the ski. Height would have absolutely nothing to do with snapping the ski. Do you think someone who is 300 pounds and 6 feet is going to snap a skier easier than someone who is the same weight and 5 feet? No, thats just stupid. Actually a longer ski would be more apt to snap than a shorter one anyway. Most of you who hate short skis aren't very good so yuo are close minded, while the better skiers don't talk shit on them and see where their size could be useful.
