how are they less complicated? the only difference with the video is that it plays videos (obviously) they both have music and pictures just the vid has more space. their setups are exacly the same except the video has one more little menu space for videos and you can have more stuff. you'd have to be an idiot to find an ipod complicated.
eh the videos are only a little more complicated because if u want to put your own shit on there you have to either get quicktime pro or some other program that will convert the videos to the ipod video formant. the software to do it doesnt come with the ipod.
and as for ski movies, my friend has already loaded a few dvd's onto the ipod and the quality is amazing, not just because its so small but because the picture shows up very clearly on the screen. ski movies should go on there just peachy
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
pretty sure my buddy was saying his video would only charge on his usb 2.0 i think he said his 1.0 slots were being weird or something but im not 100% sure about the 1.1 or whatever
I dont have a USB 2.0 but i can transfer songs and charge through USB 1.1, it just takes forever to transfer the songs cause max throughput is like 12 Mb/s versus 480 Mb/s.
hmmm... ipods are for retards .. that is their purpose... they are meant to be easy to use ... which they need not to be ... did you even know that they are way over priced hmmm i doubt that cause anyone who buys one is retarded... ipod= idiot, portaying only dumbness
so what do you suggest my man? i have looked at EVERY single mp3 player and nothing compares to an ipod for the storage and price. sure you can name other mp3 players but they cost $225 for 10GB and NO PHOTOS and are not a reputable... so why not get 30GB, video, photo for $300?
Until the stupid iPods came out, all mp3 players were dropping in price because the technology is supercheap now. After all the companies realized that most of america is spoiled rich bastard that will waste hundreds of dollars on an iPod, they all raised their prices too.
I pods ruined the mp3 player market. You have to use gay software, they don't act like removable drives, and you can't share music as easily. I got a 20gb for $100.
Everyone of you idiots that buys a new iPod drives the price up again.
the ipod video seems pretty sweet. soon enough, it'll just become a full out computer in itself. i mean, it's already got music, pictures, videos.... what's next....
Not true. My shuffle acts as a flash drive and my regular iPod is a fully functional 40gb HD... i could even use it as the boot drive for Mac OS X (im not sure about windows, thats not my field). But yeah, theyre removeable hard drives. You can turn it on in iTunes, but then you have to manually eject every time. Thats why its not turned on to start with.
not really, when apple releases a new ipod series they are all priced about the same as the old series but with more space/features. for example the 20 gig photo ipods(5th/4th gen?) were $300, now that theyre discontinued theyve dropped to 250 til theyre gone and the 30 gig video ipods are now $300. same with the mini to nanos and the higher gb ipods. actually i think the 60 gig video being 400 is cheaper than the 60 gig photo was when it was released.
That was comparing to the actual cost of the technology and to other mp3 players, not other iPods. The technology is really cheap, iPods proved that they could increase the price and everyone will stil buy them.
Somehow i don't think thats true...Creative, which on year ago declared an aggressive pricing and marketing "war" on the iPod, has cut its margins drastically. Quote:
However, net income fell 72.1 per cent year on year, from $57m to $15.9m. Excluding one-off items from both quarters, Creative's profit was still down, from $8.7m in Q1 FY2004 to $1.1m in Q1 FY2005.
During the quarter the company shipped 2m MP3 players, company president Craig McHugh said. That's the same number that it shipped in Q4 FY2004, the most recent Christmas quarter. Compare that to Apple's shipment of 4.5m iPods in Q4 2004 and 5.3m of the players in Q1. Creative is a very long way from achieving victory in its 'war' with Apple, declared in November 2004.
Indeed, it's competition from the likes of Apple that hit Creative's income so hard, the company said. January's launch of the Flash-based iPod Shuffle, updated iPod Minis and price-cuts on other models forced Creative to cut its prices too, reducing its profit margins, from 34 per cent a year ago to just 23 per cent. They will continue to fall, it warned, to around 20 per cent.
"During the quarter we reduced the selling price following sharp price drops by Apple on the Mini and the introduction of flash players at lower-than-expected prices," said McHugh. "These were the major factors in the decrease of gross margins."

So creative is doing all that it can not to price gouge, and yet they mention that apple's low prices hurt them. Hmmm... that basically contradicts everything you said.
im gunna bump this post because i cannot decide which ipod to get...the nano is so small which would be nice for working out and skiing... but the G5 ipod has video and 26 more GB than the nano but is quite bigger.
video b/c its durable, it doesnt scratch hella easy, the screens big enough to look at, it plays videos, its got enough space for the music u like, its only like 100 dollars more expensive for a bigger, better version of the nano... the only thing the nano has on the video is its size, and thats retarded b/c the videos already tiny
have u held one? the videos are thinner than the previous ipods and are pretty light, probably about the same weight as my cell phone. i doubt youll notice the wieght at all. video for sure, my friend is sending his 4gb nano back to spend the extra 50 bucks to get the 30 gig video.
i don't like the video's, you would have to pay an extra 150$ to watch a movie on a super tiny screen, if you wanna watch movies just go buy the PSP, that has a very big screen for a portable device... and it finally has online for everyone (although i've had it the whole time cause i hacked through the PSP, oh and u need a router to go online throught the PSP.
i have both... er well my family has both.
i like the video alot better than the nano, but that's only becasue i take a lot of trips.. so loading my videos and tv shows on there makes a much more fun trip.. and i like the exta space, becasue i definatly have more than 4 gs of music.
but the nano is really cool. and i like how small it is.
overall its about what you want the ipod for...
A) you could just buy movies
B) they have a specail pack where you can get a 1 gig-chip
I no that's not much space but i can't stand those small speakers... and you gotta wear headphones, and the PSP you can play games and surf the internet, alot of things are possible wit' the PSP, you just don't have as much spce and you not as organized in the music department.
video
more memory, size doesnt matter as long as if it can fit in your pocket
actually i would just get a regular 20 gig or 30 gig because i like listening to music better than watching movies
