My oppinion on baggy cloths

before i start i want to emphisise that i am writing this because i am sick of people hating on skiers who hate on me and most of the other skiers who wear baggy clothing. and if you dont want to respond intellegantly then dont say anything.
i think that baggy cloths are not about the ganster image, they are truely that skier image. like most other sports, skiing has its reputation and its steriotypes. skiers who dress ganster are not trying to make a statement about whether they are ganstwer as much as they just dress how they are told to by the skiing industry. also, people ski how they find comfortable. i think that people who are prejudiced to the 'ganster image' are prejudiced to the majority of the industry, and i dont see how they call themselves true skiers. of corse, i think that if skiers started carrying guns around with them and stuff, that would be overdoing it, and i think that it is cool that there is diversity of lifestyles in the industry

id say it just depend on how you feel, what you like the more and when you feel comfortable. But i think that baggy clothes is for the style to. You want a different style than other skiers.

i like a regular sized jacket, not too big, not too small, just perfect, but i rock baggy pants for 2 reasons
-i can't stand how constricting ski pants are and baggier ones allow for more movment
-I can wear more layers underneath more comfortably if it is really cold out.

i think the gangsta image your talking about isnt really aimed towards baggy pants but the gangsta actions by big name players. speech, chains, hand signs, gangsta bandanas etc. baggy pants arent gangsta their just baggy pants.

You better hope skiing doesn't get a dress code like the NBA or else you kids won't be aloud to wear your bling and such.

I wear loose fitting stuff becasuse it makes your style in the air better. For all those little flinches you might have, it covers them up and makes every move look increasingly unified.

"they just dress how they are told to by the skiing industry"
This is the only thing I disagree with. I think it's more about the individual's style and what they think looks good and feels good. At least it should be. Sure some people are gangster and wear baggy clothes for that purpose but gangsters aren't the only people wearing baggy clothes.

Hey
I have to agree 100% The past 4 years i've been skiing I wore normal fitted black pants and a red and black KillTech jacket. None of it was baggy but I still done all the freestyle shit. When I was looking for a new suit this year I tried on a pair of pants and they were too baggy (so I would have thought last year) but when i put them on they were comfortable and I liked them. So this year i'll be sporting a xl pair of Vb Orage pants as well as a M Siver Cartel Ten4 Jacket. But it all depends on what you think. So far I haven't really seen people say skiiers that ware baggy cloths are trying to act like gangsters.

more comfortable and they cover up movements. baggy pants cover up leg movements that might not look as good and also makes arm flailing look less

word, baggy is just how it is, but man tight shit looks gay ahaha, like i'm sorry but it looks hilarious, like a stick figure is hitting a rail in spandex. it just looks so much better with baggy shit on, its the steeze factor.

skiing just looks better when you wear baggy clothes, 99% of people who wear baggy stuff skiing are far from gangster - and the 1% who think they're gangster are still far from gangster

And I'm sure you would also be inclined to say: "...and I don't care what you think, I'm going to where what I feel comfortable wearing." There inlies the hypocrisy. If you truly did not care what anyone else thought about your clothing, this thread wouldn't even exist... now that's a paradox if I've ever heard one...

people still discuss this as if anyone's opinions on clothing style mean anything? like someone is going to think something looks better or worse because other people have a niftier way of explaining why someone does it? this is a prime example of why i have slackened my contribution to this site

i only have 1 problem with baggy stuff: sagging your pants. it fucks you up when you stack & it freezes the goods. and if youre not stacking, youre not trying. i just hide the fact my pants are around my bellybutton with my big-ass jacket.

bigger jackets arent just comfyer. but they cover more of your body, and when you fall they dont slide up, they keep on covering you, and continue keeping you warmer. plus theres room for 2 in one big jacket.

a sport should never be associated with a lifestyle of a type of music.
I believe there is no correlation between baggy pants and rap/gangster style. Its confort and your style that affect your skiwear. There should no insults about people that like tighter pants, its their style and they feel confortable.
For the people that wear baggy pants to ressemble some else, I say go get a life.

my question is why do we care what other people are wearing. just wear what you like and what makes you most comfortable and like he said dont hate on people who dress differently.. its just what they like.

i like baggy stuff cause you have more room to move and you can fit more clothes under them. i'm 5'0 and i got some mens small burton pants that are pretty huge and really comfy. i most certainly do not think i'm a "gangsta".

yeah baggy pants are great off the hill but seth disappointed me first time i saw him i would expect a little greco flair to the hill from him but i guess not. but yeah tight pants and skis dont mix well even tho mine are tight as fuck off it. but no gangsta point intended in baggy pants.

baggy pants just seem warmer, and you can layer more, plus, tight pants restict movement. Im skiny as shit, so i just get pants for my height and they look baggy, im a pant size, 30ish-32 so im in medium pants but they are plenty baggy

Just wait for all the hesher kids to start skiing. Oakley's new line of pants will include a seamstress so that they can sew them nice and skin tight.

I thnk you wear whatever the hell you want, but after seeing the trend towards short tight ass jeans in Snowbarding during the last 2 seasons, I'll take (a) baggy anytime.

i dont think there is any stereotype against skiiers except by other skiiers. most people dont know what a rail is and many assume that skis always stay on the ground

I wear baggy clothes all the way, but I'm definitly not a gangster. It's way more comfy than riding in tight ski pants and it's so much easier to do tricks. As to what other skiers wear, I really couldn't care less...except for people in one suits with bright pink, purple and yellow colors on them, they need to be mocked!!
