if you want no crowds and lots of sun but only park go in early to mid april.
if pow is what you want go in febuary but it'll be a bit bussier, thought the only times fernie gets real bussy is christmass, reading week, and manitoba/sask. spring breaks... also if it dumps all the douche bags from calgary come down with their hummers and what not.
fernie is so sick, i went there last week in march i think, and even tho they had a bad snow year, the skiing was epic. I really can't see fernie being "busy" either.
Ive booked my airline tickets january 20th and 27th
Now, I am looking for lodging packages.
Here are my picks:
Lizzard-->304$ each person for three days, three nights and lift tickets
Griz-->274$ each person for three days three nights and lift tickets
(we would take two packages for 6 days lodging)
And I also need a cheap way to get from the calgary airport to fernie. We are arriving at calgary at around 1:00 in the morning, so we want to get to our lodge in the night to ski the next day. And the same thing back to catch the plane for 8:00
I was thinking of renting a car, but that is expensive.
i think i stayed at the griz, its really sick they got hot tubs and a big swimming pool that has a huuuugeeee slide that u can do all kinds of crazy shit off of, we stayed in a condo (we were 12) and it was super comfy, everything was clean and worked 100%...we took a bus that travels from calgary to fernie when we went, and we arrived at around the same time as u guys, and skied the next day
oh and theres shuttles that go from the condo to the mountain everyday
So your telling me that you took the bus in the middle of the night?
And do you remember what was the name of the company who drove you?
And how much did it cost?
The last five years late march and april have been big powder months there and the normal periods for pow, jan and feb haven't been as good. I'm tempted to say that really early and late season are the best times to go there these days. The griz has been unhappy since the new owners blew up his home.
I'm coming from england for the season in Fernie, can't wait. Hoping for a pipe to pass the non powder days but hasn't it just been filled in properly?
