i have a vx21 and its sick... vx1000 is said to have better colors, but obviously no lcd... its also a really old camera and stuff like the ribbon cable breaks... but i would definatly get a vx1000 over the panny if i were you

vx1000 no choice.
colors are amazing when u tweak with them and 12 bit sound for rails sounds so nice and you can get a much wider assortment of wideangle/fisheye lenses.
The only thing that the vx falls short on is its performence in dark or little light. But that can be fixed with a 50 watt mount light and battery

Vx1k has better colors the a dvc30.Ive filmed with both and I liked the vx1k alot more, even tho it doesnt have a viewfinder it was all good.
If you want to find a cheap deal on a Vx1k go to skateperception.com and look on their forums.

I was set on getting a vx1k as well, but the fact that there all used and a couple of years old just completly scared me away. There is a much higher chance of it breaking in the cold, like the ribbon cables. I got the panny dvc30 and im so much more happy. With the colors: its all personal prefernce. Some like the unique look of dvc30 footy, others prefer the goldish tint the vx1k gives. Just do as much research before buying one, id just recommend against the vx1k becuase of the cold factor.

yes, lets ALL compare 16mm to a vx1k.
and I honestly don't see all the hype behind the VX1k's colors. I've gotten some awsome stuff from my GL2 that I've never seen a vx1k beat.
