ey guys, Im going to Nice for thanksgiving for a week with my family, and they've let me take a day to go skiing somewhere. It's too far to travel to switzerland but anything really in France isn't out of the question. However I have no idea where to start. Id love to go to Chamonix or La Grave only because Ive heard of those places but Im sure there are many more that are just as great.. and I have no idea who would have the best snow at thanksgiving.. can anyone help me out?

Nice??? I'm from there. Well i doubt the resorts that are nearby will be open but check if Isola 2000 or Auron are open. Getting into the real alps is quite a long drive though, and i don't know if it will be worth it so early in the season...

It's a little less... If you drive through Italy 460km (285 miles) will get you to Albertville, from where you can go to Chamonix, La Clusaz (Candide's home), or the various places in the Tarentaise like Val d'Isere, La Plagne, etc. Maybe your best bet at that time of year would be Val d'Isere/Killy as it opens in November sometime and the rest of them not until early December.
Snow conditions will probably not be amazing (but you might get lucky) but if it's a once in a lifetime thing then the road trip up through Italy/France and the experience will be pretty cool. You'll get the see the madness of Alps skiing/terrain and it might make you want to come back.

Les Deux Alpes is the best place for early season. Big glacier with one of the best parks in europe. Not sure how much of Cham would be open then. I think in November you need to look for places with glaciers. Tignes, Les Diablerets in France, Saas Fee in Switzerland, Cevinia in Italy, or Solden and a few others in Austria but There prob too far.

only tignes and les 2 alpes are open at your date, les 2 alpes will be better for sure because of the "mondial du ski" beginning the 28th...(it's a giant skitest and party)
All times are Eastern (-4)
