Everyone with Twins

I was skiing monday, and I was just looking around, and I think more then half of the kids had twins, no matter how good they were. I really think skis are just headed in the twintip direction. With this many people with them, they are going to dominate the market. well, maybe not the racing market, but big mountian, and park for sure.

twin tips have a firm hold on 2% of the market i believe....long way to go yet.

ive noticed the same thing skia i first went to my mountain on Saturday and i saw so many kids with twins

You'll start to see even more people with them soon. A bunch of popular non-twins have turned up tails now too. Remember when people (I guess now still) de-tuned tails to disengage their turn earlier, well, a tiwn does basically the same thing. Don't worry if people suck and have twins, just be glad so that more twins are made for us.

Ya it's a good thing cause better and cheaper stuff is made, but why did we get into skiing with twins, while everyone else was on snowboards the vast minority was us, and there was very few of us, i dunno i'm just saying it was kinda cool to have something completely different from eveyone else

It's becoming a fucking fad....

But even non freestyle skis are begining to see some benefits. A lot of skis, not at all designed for jibbing at all, have atleast a little, if not all out, tip on the back.

Yeah, twins are sweet, twins are good even if you dont freestyle, my dad last year tested about 3/4 of the all mountain skis on the market, one of his favorite pair that he tested was the 1080's, he wanted to get a pair but I talked him out of it, he being an old fart on twins, its just not right.

one of my friends bought 1080's two years ago, and he has yet to do a 360. he is too worried about hurting himself. though he skis switch all the time. from the top of the t-bar at marmot to the main quad.over half of the mountain. Its funny to watch all the old people look at him.

atomic is making all thier skis except for the sx:11 and the hardcore race skis with a very slight twin on them. twins allow for cleaner transitions out of turns.

Also alot of salomon skis like the Verse range and Crossmax series have a rounded end with a very small flare. ie: twin tipped

everyone where i ski has the 1080's or the 720's. I was like i dont wanna be like everyone else and have the same ski so i went out an got the Pocket Rocket. thank god they r good on hardpack

1080s are pretty much what most ppl who dont know anything about skiing buy. there are alot of exceptions tho...

If you go to a store with a large ski selection, you'll see that most skis now have a slight flare to the tail. Don't mistake these with real twins though. most of those skis arn't made for freesyle.

i remember back in the day when i ALMOST got the white 1260s, remember those? Those were goofy as hell. Now they wouldnt look as bad, but im still a fan of line, and now im ythe only one with the sailboat skogens, with half painted chrome, which is chipping off BADLY

I think that its a kind of mode... you're cool with twins,no twins,reject... they may never see all the possibilities of the twins.... and the olds one,they feel a bit younger or they just try it... it like xbox,p2... the time theres something new,everyone wants it cause its nice bran new things....

the ones that wiil continue with the twins,they'll be the guys that will make the sport evolve... so keep it growing...

All most all the companies out there are putting a slight twin on all of their skis, simply because it allows you to exit your turn smoother. The XXX has a full twin on it so that you can back up in the powder if you are hung up in the steep trees or something. Even if you don't ride switch at all, the true twins have the best flex pattern for taking jumps. The entire industry turning twin is only a good thing, because it will bring more attention to our sport, and result in better and more parks built on our mountains.

yes many skis have a slightly turned up tail, but that dosnt make them twintips or show any recognition of freeskiers. its just a design feaure. as jibbing starts to move towards being mainstream dont worry about posers because they just represent more money and intrest going into the sport. thats a good thing

I will admit i have seen a explosion of skiers in the parks recently. Almost more than snowboarders. But the reason we all see so many twin tips is because we spend most of our time in the park. The skiing industry is never going to 'Go in the twin tip direction because the only people who want them are one who want to do tricks. My mom used to race moguls and not even her or any mom would ever get twins because they have no desire to jib. Twins for anyone who doesn't jib is senseless overkill!

i dont see any real disadvantages to buying a twintip. if i was under 20 or so and wasnt necessarily into freestyle i would still prob by a twin just incase i wanted to later on. and yes line will have more than one recreational ski next year. Theyre moving towards a more diverse line.

wow, a lot of you guys must like punk music eh? the whole trendy anti-trend thing is going on. i want to be original so i got mad trix - that's that all about? when you're spending a few hundred of either your or your parents hard earned money (and if it is your parents, don't feel any better because that's still a lot of money, doesn't matter if they have money) you should get a ski that you like, not just a ski that noone else has.

and using the mad trix as an example - they are the best ski i've ever been on... they are a rock solid, stiff, wood core ski... but if you don't like stiff skis, than you will hate the mad trix...

and when skiing gets big again - don't go to skiboarding just to be different... please.
