i am 6'5" and 180 lbs. i can get last years scratch bc for 399 in a 188 or this years arv for 480 in 185. i probably ski 65 park and 35 all mountain. please help me decide. thanks.
I havent' ridden either ski but ArV's have better graphics so get them. Either way they'll be a sick ski and you'll be able to haul them around since your big in the park
that first post was truly the epitamy of fucking newschooler. to voice my opinion, i wouldnt get the arv, becasue no pros ride them, but pros use the BC, so you have to get that.
Lets look at the technicalities of this question you are 6 feet and 180 pound this would suggest to me that a gentleman of your stature would need a stiffer ski and out of the two. The scratch is a THC core which has two wood dowels down the side and a fiberglasss and elastimer filling in the middle, THe Arv from what i read seems to be a core like its protege the ar5 which also has wood stringers, The two skis are fairly similiar. I skied on the BC last year and found it rode soft noodly almost. I've never skied the arv but i would assume its the same. I would go with the BC based simply on the fact that i know in a 188 your going to find the ski butters well and performs well in the park where you like to hang out, you have no prob goign all mountain with it as well whilst the arv seems to be more oriented as an all mountian type ski good for backcountry, the bc is a sick park ski
i am 5'9'' and 155 and i got the Arv's in a 185 with the new look p-12. i found that they are just a tiny bit heavier than my 168 scratch F.S. 03-04 with the scratch 100 bindings. this years B.C.'s are supposed to be stiffer than last years. but between the 2 that you mentioned i would go with the ARV's.
This years BC and FS are way stiffer than the ARV's man. I have last years fs, this years fs, and last years ARV's. Last years FS were soft, this years fs are wider and not even comparable to the old scratch. the 06 scratch are quite stiff and way bomber. Last years ARV was supposed to be a fairly stiff ski according to Armada, it was their BOMBER ski. My new scratches are way stiffer than my ARV's, and this years ARV are even softer. So, to sum it all up, this years BC is stiff wide, and a really good ski for big guys IMO.
the scratch BC. last years model was skinnier (90 underfoot) so it will workbetter in the park. besides, it is a better ski all around. and it's cheaper.
ha are you serious??? The ARV's are sick graphics and nice skis, but for the price??? The BC's are a wayy better deal. And rossi skis are soo well built.
Oh yea, and this years sprayer bc is the one to get if you want a little extra girth in a park ski. It is basically the same as last years bc from what I hear? And it is also like 200 dollars cheaper than the scratch bc.
