WHICH Laptop? Comparison.

I need a new laptop.
in the following price range, but money is still a factor.
battery life needs to be good. definitely over 2 hours. hopefully 3+
it needs to be quick, QUIET(fans), and cool (temperature). something, seemingly, very hard to find.
DVD burner is important. hard drive needs to be 80 gb+. ram needs to be 512+. monitor needs to be 13-14" preferably. package should be small and light.

i can NOT seem to find a dell with my necessities for under like...2 grand.

i am typing this on a toshiba, and NEVER will they EVER get another penny from me, let alone a referral or anything else. worst computer, but more importantly, customer service, I've ever been on.


i can't seem to find the new macs/decreased ibook pricing on apple's site...am i missing somethign?

found the new powerbooks. unfortunately that hasn't lowered any prices on ibooks yet.



i think i'm down to a 100gb HP with 1gb ram and a 14 xwga display at between 1200 and 1300
OR
an Ibook with 80gb, 512mb, normal display at around 1300

i got a refurbished Vaio s460 at this sony outlet store... i think it was 400 cheaper than a superdrive 12 inch powerbook... or so... so that seemd pretty worth it to me and its good shit so... yes.

well if you are a university student go to the store tab on apple.com and then click on 'apple education' which is along the right hand side of the page. then you choose your province/state and then give your university name and student number...

I got my custom pbook for a really good deal

I have a comp called VPR Matrix its desined by Proche its really fast and you can get Mac or Pc technology on it and upgrade it for a lot of memory

i'm going with a 15" powerbook (not the newest with the nicer screen, the other one) becuase it is physically smaller than a 14" ibook.
the student discount is only about $100, so I'm vouching or a different method.
