Unequivocal evidence that no poles is sick...

The vast consensus here seems to be that riding with no poles is "gay." Also everyone knows that gay people are all about style, and own that shit like microsoft. So clearly, riding with no poles is the steeziest way to do things. Try and disprove that bitches!

I am still waiting for one legitimate argument proving that any good skier can't ski without poles.

Its called false logic. Its a basic philosophical principal. You can rationalize anything if you can equate criterium that match your desire however, just cause somethings logical doesnt mean its true. NO poles are still gay.

I use poles because they are actually quite useful. The one thing I don't like about snowboarding...getting stuck on the catwalk with no poles. Skiing bumps, or carving without poles just isn't the same. Poles give you balance, and they are also quite convenient. So, I am going to use them. Also when im skiing trees with my buddies and we get seperated I tap my poles together so we know where one another is.

While I do agree that a real skier should not need poles to ski, poles are part of what seperates our sport from snowblading and snowboarding.
Personally, I believe that great mountain riders master all snow sports and can switch between any style depending on the day and their desires. I like to think of me and my crew as Snow Men, similar to Hawian Watermen, people who just live to let gravity assist them down the snow.
Comming from a snowboarding/telemarking/skateboarding/surfing/wakeboarding/snowblading (all areas I have coached or competed in) background I completly agree that POLES are not needed. THEY ARE HOWEVER A PART OF SKIING AND NOT USING THEM IS SNOWBLADING ON LONG SNOWBLADES.
I have surfed deep Alta powder on my spatulas with no poles, hands down laying huge slarves across big faces, felt like snowboarding....it was fun, BUT I HATED TRAVERSING AND LIFTLINES without them.
I can agree that they may not be as useful in the park, but most skiers on this site dont have the basic fundementals to make real turns to begin with and taking away their poles will not increase their style, if anything it will look like snowblading on long snowblades.
OK time for lunch...so chew on that

I agree with the first sentence. The second makes no sense. Snowblading is riding snowblades, skiing is riding skis. There is no such thing as "long snowblades." It is just skiing without poles, not snowblading on long snowblades.
Other than that, I agree with everything else that you said. It's good to hear another legitimate skier voicing his opinion and backing it up with valid info.
I'm just trying to get the point across that poles are not necessary, and if you don't use them, that doesn't mean its not skiing.

the point of style is to be origonal and have other people copy you. in a young sport anyhting goes. there shouldnt be a 2 page thread arguing about poles.

so what you are saying is that having no poles is ok ... so then why not shrink your boards too and make them non releasable bindings... i bet that would be awesome then you wouldnt have to deal with all these yards sales and giant skis that dont look good

but anyways, poles might not be necessary in the park but from a style point of view I will never ever think it looks better than with poles. sure a pro can do an impressive trick without poles and ill think its cool but if they had poles it wouldve been much doper. face it, a very big part of our sport is style and i think no poles is up there with tight pants and penciled spins.

no i understand that he was trying to diss snowblading, but it was a boarderline retarded point anyways, and i have pretty minimal respect for someone who is so insecure in themselves that their username is "skiboardsrgehay"
