wow, i really don't know what to think about these. i wonder how they ski. i guess you have to buy them individually. this shit is crazy haha. yea, dunno if there has already been a thread on this already but i thought it was very interesting
only thing that bothers me about them is that it says right in the ad that any apparent ski-to-ski contact they can detect will void the warranty. everyone has their skis slam into each other every once in a while, so i don't know how well this policy will fly.
^ so yea you think they used materials from earth core to make snowboards for real??
You dont halways have to take everything that libtech says like if it was the absolute truth.
libtech are making fun of peoples a lot that's prolly why i lovge them so much
I don't get it...its like they are saying "well skis aren't cool enough, so we'll let you ride some really narrow snowboards," as if they will lose credibility with the snowboarders if they actually make a ski.
you don't get the chop through turns with magna-traction like you do with regular skis. that's what they mean by turning ice into powder. you float through turns, and news is that their is a certain pro that is testing these skis out
I'm not backing their involvement in skiing just yet. They have always been anti-skiing in these parts. They sponsored a huge pipe event up by us when the whole mountain was closed due to shitty Northwest weather.
It was a sick pipe, spring conditions, etc. In between heats or riders, all bunches or snowboarders were sessioning the pipe. I took a few hikes and then I was pulled aside. "Sorry dude, no skiers, LIb Tech's call." There were some hack snowboarders in there, scraping the walls away and I couldn't hit it with them?
I was pissed and then made my "LIb Tech licks my ass." T-shirt I wear to snowboard premieres.
Then I see they are making skis??????????
As I said, I haven't talke dwith any of them and heard their reasonings for this, so I remain a bit skeptical, and still bitter about the pipe.
The prices listed above are direct prices and are per 1/2 pair. The actual selling price will be about $590/pr. I've already ordered them for both shops. It's very limited availability/distribution and they won't be in stores for a few more weeks. This is the facts.
I've ridden Magna-traction boards and they're SICK! Can't wait to ride the NAS.
That's what I was talking about above. Why do we want to support a company that is too cool to actually make "skis?" They might think its funny to call their skis "narrow ass snowboards," but I think its demeaning to the very people they are trying to sell to. Lib-Tech can shove their narrow snowboards up their asses as far as I'm concerned, at least until they show they are ready to genuinely support skiing.
We know it is all the same, or should be at this point in time; that is precisely why I say I'm not backing it. Their behavior towards skiing in the past has led me to make that personal stance.
If they jump into it and start supporting different aspects of the sport: movies, magazines, web, and events, then I'll think differently.

Schmies, dude, Libtech has actually been making skis for far longer than you have been involved in this industry. They have been suppling a few of the best big mountian skiers in Washington since the early 90's with skis. The guys at libtech/gnu/merving are deidcated hardcore riders/ and even skiers they paticipate 100% in the sports that they make gear for, and they are behind the ski project 100%
The skiers that they have announced are the latest development in the underground testing that they have done over the last fifteen years. I have had the priveladge to see the skis evovle for quite some time now, and have skied on various protypes, and was involved with providing some test data to one of the key figures in testing the skis.
The Libtech skis are here to stay, and they are going to be a formable competitor in the ski market. Libtech is part of the same clogramorate "Quicksilver" that includes Dynastar and Rossi.
I just mounted a pair of these skis for an athlete that is now in S.A. attempting a first decent on these skis. If he feals confident enough in the skis to attempt a first decent on them, I am more than confident in there ability to hold up and ski well.
