BC jibbing... Overated?

I may take heat for this, but I think people saying that hitting a big kicker in the backcountry is harder and more technical than hitting a big table in the park are wrong. I would give anything to have a nice juicy landing like they have. Landing in powder and landing on ice are so different, and I know which I would choose! Unless we are talking about fakie landings, I would say BC jibbing is actually easier. Just because you see it less and it's slightly newer than throwing tricks in a park, doesn't mean it's tougher. Think abotu it though... Don't most of us try to learn a new trick first on a trampoline, then a backcopuntry booter, then take them to the park? I know most of the people I know do.

I can see where your coming from, if its just one BC kicker i'd say they are very clos cuz the BC kicker isn't going to have a coinsistant landing or take off, but have you seen Mike Douglas' segment in happy dayz? where he toss d spins off of small naturel lips and rollers. cuz that shits gotta be hard

when people talk about BC bein harder they usually meen actual skiing down mountains, not just hitting a booter. some people use the term backcountry jibbing when they meen throwin moves off cliffs

well if you're doing a booter and expecting to just make a crater then I guess it is. but if you're going fast and big and skiing straight out of it then it's harder than park. you land with your skis even slightly wrong then you're going for a tumble.

the reason people go and build hits in the bc is to avoid the consequences that come with solid park landings... who wouldnt rather land in pow than on ice? hello...

i agree, but on vid i think BC just looks cooler than park cus its so fresh and so clean. also some of the BC stuff is soooo damn big.

Yes...time to take some heat...
BC Kickers if you are any good are of much greater size then a table top. And honestly dude, Landing on a table top is sometimes easier...I personally find it alot easier. Cause honestly dude, come hit some real back country jumps and then say that. No offense but you are so far off. I will give you that sometimes jumping on hard landing may hurt more if you fall but some serious other injuries occur in the BC. alot fo the time i see people stepping it up and going alot bigger then most tables and big airs can provide. Excluding per park, etc

poeple on the east coaast almsot never have the chance to rock a bc lander so we take our tp hits as we can get em

in the back country you gotta be dialed. to far forward your gonna eat shit. to far back your gonna leave a bomb hole. on a nice groomed jump there is way more room for error. well if you landing in powder you may be able to save your neck or arm or back, which you could on ice, but what I mean in on a park jump you can be a little forwards or backwards or on your side. not in the BC though.

It is alot easier to land on hard snow and alot harder to land in soft snow.

yah, i came from the east thinking 'mm, soft landings, no more pain...' but then you land in deep snow for the first time, get ejected from your bindings and rag doll all the way down the mountain, then spend the next half hour trying to find all your gear. It definitly takes practice to figure out landing...and it's not easy. Table tops are way easier to land...you don't have to be perfect everytime to ride away. You don't get as bruised though..

yea bc is normally way bigger like my biggest bc hit last year was atleast twice as big as any table top i saw in a terrain park, they are definately alot harder, i can barely land anything other than straight airs on large bc jumps, and when you crash you dont just hit, you rag doll and pull stuff and stuff, but the landings are softer and easier on your back and shins and stuff and they are alot more funner than terrain park jumps too

True, didnt think about landing too far forward or back. But there are big tables being built more and more now, look at superpark's hip.

well, I think BC and park jibbing r about the same for dificulty. in BC the jump take offs aren't always great but yer almost always guarunteed a soft powder landing. but in park the jumps r usally perfectly groomed. but the landings r harder. and also, like on tables, there's a certain place were u have to land.

yeah, bc jumps have unlimited landing areas usually, u can hit them with as mcuh or as little speed as possible, some tables have a very precise landing area. Anyways, I just wanted to get some feedback on this subject.

Its all about takin the park to the backcountry. Dont you get sick of hard landings? Dont you like to go bigger? of course it would be better when its soft. Why the fuck do you think we worship the backcountry? I know my body is telling me to stay out of the park this season. Thats why im gonna just focus on big natural hits, cornice step downs, and halfpipe alone. If been jumping for 5 years straight and time says that if i wanna do this longer i gotta go softer. Switching up everything. You'll see.

id think that in the bc you can build really nice floaters into soft landing, its alot less intiminating trying a new trick into pow than on an ice landing cause if you screw up you got some soft pow for crashing in, but you have to stick your landing cause if you land to far forward or backward you eat shit, in a park hard landings heart when flat or when they have bomb holes, but when a table is build right and not dead from rental jibbers, a park hit is so much easier, if you hit it faster than you think you pretty much land further down the landing and can slow it up a little, but coming up short sucks. I find the main thing with park hits is getting your speed down right off the bat. me, i wish i could hit up more back country booters and lines as i could, but when all you got is ice, the park, pipe, and rails are all hella fun, and cruising fakie going mauch 10 kills it.

BC jibbing is awesome!! simple as that. But having said that there are no crowds in the back country. Its fair enough to say that bc jibbing is harder than park jibbing but in park jibbing (ie: comps) there is that added pressure of being able to perform infront of a crowd. Its really hard to compare the two and define a better one, ultimately its the same thing - skiers pushing the limits. But only the terrain deffering

Id say that park is harder and there are more consequences....but back country booter can get very large...not the jump itself but the hight and distance gone off some backcountry booter is more than that in that park....park is sick though
