Skiied the Foils yesterday

Me and my Girlfriend skiied at an Austrian glacier yesterday.
I tried my new Foils mostly on and off-piste since there was no park!
So, if anyone is interested in how they did all-mountain, I'll gladly spill all the info, since it was quite a surprise for me!

yea, I wanted to buy them but I heard that their durability is shit, but by all means spill the beans

The most surprising thing I found about the Foils was, that coming off 64mm waisted slalom andoriented and all-mountain 70mm K2 skis (all 160), the Foil which is 85 in the waist, didn't give me any harder time doing short quick turns.
The ski handled hard pack and junk, shitty, sometimes frozen garbage with ease, and the ski just pushed it away. Although the frozen surfaces on top did distract the ski at times. It also handled ice the same way my all other skis did and actually I felt they handled it even better (but I'm guessing it's due to them being new and having factory sharp edges).
Anyways, I was having a blast all over the mountain and couldn't believe (due to the girth) how good it was at speed, doing long or short turns with ease and lots of energy. I felt like I was on my last year K2s, only that the Ski was lighter and a lot better off piste, jumping from small cliff to cliff and spinning (changing direction) in mid-air, while avoiding some stickin' out rocks.
I'm guessing (don't wanna brag or anything) maybe that I could handle the ski so well due to my technique. My Gfriend said that any ski I tried till now, I always skied the same and could handle all types of turns.
Oh, yeah, not to forget my specs: 5'10, 175lbs, 28 yo
If anybody is interested in other areas of the ski's performance, don't be shy to post it!
Later!

you need to upgrade to something with at least 90mm underfoot. and then you'll be surprised at how well they still carve.
but the foil is a good initiation into twin tip and wider skis.
my wife skis the 1080s and loves them for their versatility.

Yeah, I agree!
Therefore my next big one to try out and probably buy in the next future will be the Seth vicious!!!
I love the graphix and the image of that ski + I have always been a supporter of K2!

Probably the reason they skied so well all-mountain was cause I mounted them at the recommended.
For that reason skiing switch wasn't as easy, but still very manageable.

I demoed them and was impressed as well but main concerns still lye in durability too me. I would like to have you post in a few months to see what you think.
Just curious if they addressed that issue??

i'm pretty sure your shop owes you some new skis. I've been thinking about +2 for mine.

I'm wondering how the suggested mark on the foils compares to say the blue 1080's. Is it more progressive? I loved skiing on my 1080's, but always wanted more tail.

I am pretty sure my shop doesn't care for you unless you show up in a bmw and buy the most expensive pair of skis, boots, and poles possible because they look nice...thank you fairfield county.

You probably won't believe it, but I bought the 174, since this was the only size the store had.
After riding it, I can honestly say it is enough ski for me and exactly what I need!
Couldn't be happier with my purchase!

dude 85 under the waist is nothing...especially if you live in austria. You can make quick radius turns on any ski, I can ski bumps on my maidens and gotamas. You just have to know how to ski.

mount them depending on where you ride, but im guessing that if their foils ur doin some backcountry so mount them back

Sure, but as far as I've heard, European conditions compare more to East Coast US than west, but sometimes I think that you can get all of the conditions (hard pack, Ice, crud and powder) in a single day.
I ski mostly Italy, Austria and sometimes Slovenia too.
So, if it's mostly hard pack, I don't think I need a ski with a waist over 85 cause otherwise I would go for the Seth Vicious!

Foils will be my park ski, got them because I want to hit groomers and trees with too. I've got pow skis, and skis for steeps/big mountain.
