if anyone feels really smart and like helping me out, you can attempt to very briefly explain to me organic chemistry, like how to name compounds such as dimethylether and stupid stuff like that, a few of us on here would greatly appreciate
keyword --> organic
it's pretty impossible to draw diagrams etc with a keyboard
try asking your teacher, memorize functional groups, simple alkanes-enes-ynes, and rules for numbering
1= meth
2=eth
3= prop
4= but
5= pent
6= hex
7= hept
8= oct....
and so on for the # of carbons in you primary chain thingy
h h h h h
h c-c-c-c-c h
h h h h h
=pentane
ane = all single bonds
ene = double bonds
ex
h h h
h c-c=c-c h
h h h
=2-butene, the double bond is on the 2nd carbon
yne = triple bonds
h h
c=-c
h h
yeah that should look like 3 lines... but yeah difficult
=ethyne
it gets crazy when you get methyls + stuff
( h )
h c h
ex
h h h h
h c c c c h
h | h h
h c h
h
=2 methyl butane
and so on, but watch out for c's on the first carbon because then the teachers trying to trick you! say that methyl group up there is on the 1st c, it would just be pentane!
its basically the same naming system when you get into adding hydroxyl groups and so on... i might be a tad rusty but i aced the class... if you need more help just msg me
