Kaunertal Glacier Opening

Hey I'm a canadian here in in austria and just went to the opening of this glacier called "Kaunertal". They had a freeskiing competiton here yesterday and I was super impressed with the talent here in Austria. Considering that in most of our ski movies there are not so many europeans and mostly north americans I really wasnt expecting too much of the european skiiers. But I was wrong. The last 5 skiers I saw in this comp were ALL throwing down switch 7's, to switch 9's no problem. And the last two guys threw something like switch corked 9's to switch 10's AND one guy threw a switch 1260! There is little to no coverage over here and SO much talent. Anyways that was my ramble, I have a lot of improving to do before I can get anywhere close skiing with these europeans!

epic man, I like to think sometimes that the best skier in the world isnt gagnier or pep, but some hermit up in the mountains of alaska who can do tricks not even know to man yet. thatd be kinda cool eh?

im serious man, its so possible. I also had such a closed minded view on skiing like that too, but these kids had MAD steeze too. Like I have been to WSI and the open and this small fucking comp in the middle of austria was going off! I wish I brought my video camera so I could show the world, but obviously i forgot it. Well there is other opportunities this year..

'ive been searching for like an hour and i still haven't found any footage. I(ve seen most of those guys ride last year in mayrhofen and they are sick!
Maybe they'll break trough bigtime now that there are more and more big events beeing organised in Europe like the Orage European Freeski Open in Laax.

^yeah man they DEFINETLY have the skill to do so. Even guys who werent in the comp were sessioning the jump afterwards, and i think the shittiest trick i saw was a switch corked 7. It was retarded. I still cant believe it.
