damn im post whoreing, I lost a friend to a head injury last year, nice day ,good snow no worries in the world then next thing you Im mashing down to ski patrol and my friends are with him watching him hold his face together with his broken compound wrist, no helmet and his brain swelled up and yeah He has permanent brain damage. were a helmet.

^^ I'll wear a mouth gaurd, full face and sometimes my daniese upper body armor if we are really going for it...coming out of a strgt line into a tree band needs a little extra protection/....when i competed in skier cross I wore full MX gear...

wrap your tool? why? because you don't want something to go wrong. wear a helmet? why? because you don't want something to go wrong. Phrostie, you can argue all you'd like that they are unnecessary, blahblahblah, but you're plain and simly WRONG. it's called a "preventable head injury" for a reason- had the person been wearing a helmet, it would have PREVENTED them from sustaining as serious of an injury. but hey, if you don't want to wear a helmet because you think they don't work or whatever and you smash your skull in, at least there will be one less stupid person on NS.

its basically all opinion..one wrong move and you could easily be hurt....be smart wear a helmet...it saved me...but not my teeth...ive had a couple bad experiences so i always wear a helmet now...

It doesn't hurt to wear a helmet. It may hurt not to wear one. You can be the best skier in the world, but if someone else crashes into you, you'll get hurt like everyone else.
I like my head, so I wear one. Even when I'm teaching 4 year olds. I've had parents of the kids I'm teaching crash into me.

Also, phrosty, you said that shinguards are the same as helmets, while i agree that we prolly should wear other safety items other than helmets, shinguards do nothing as most of your shin is already covered by your boot, and your head is truly the most important part of your body. i think its sick that the olenicks and others rock helmets, and i hate skiing without one, but i also am not going to force people to wear them if they don't want.

Lets face the facts, helmets are a personal choice. If you feel as if a helmet will make you more condifdent and possibly save your life, then wear one
If you feel as if you don't need one, then fuck it don't wear one, who the hell is going to tell you any different, its your head
Like Phrosty said before, tons of skaters, bikers whatever don't wear helmets and never smash their heads, because its their own choice, what are we going to wear full bodied armor now to protect us.
Basically wear one if you want, if not don't who gives a fuck, your head not mine
Personally, I wear one because I am 22 years old and skiing is not my life and want to continue to have one if it could possibly save my life. Im no pro or will never be a disgusting skier so i gotta protect my head

I know of a few people who've either been saved by helmets, who've been told that they should no longer ski unless they wore a helmet at all times, or who've been seriously fucked up or died because they weren't wearing one.
Ever seen Point Break? There's a line, near the end..."Crazy, not stupid".
Hucking huge, skiing fast, steep, gnarly lines, and hitting the park balls out, without a helmet, isn't crazy, it's STUPID.

Josh Malay, a snowboard pro who designed the graphics for the original seth pistol, the 04/05 pistol and I think some of the Vicious design passed away after hitting his head when not wearing a helmet.

Why the fuck would you not wear a helmet? Phrostie you are an idiot. My helmet is warmer than a hat is, it holds my goggles so i never lose them, and it fits perfectly under my hood so you wouldn't even know i was wearing one if you saw me. Plus, i know for a fact i would have had a concussion on two different occasions if I hadn't been wearing my helmet. People who think they are cool because they don't wear their helmets really are just stupid.

helmets are the way to go, and i got my braces off about a year ago, so if i do big cliffs or big jumps and praacticing shit i dont know, ill prob where a mouth guard cuz i dont wanna spend anouther 4k on my mouth

dude if you hit your shins or something really hard on a rock or something youll have a broken leg or something, if you hit your head really hard on somethin, you eather get totally fucked up or die.
last year i was skiing on a powder day and i was going probably 35-40 mph and i hit a log and i fell with my head leading and since there was powder i stoped right away instead of sliding, i ended up with my head about 3 inches from a tree, and it would have been just as easy to be going 1 mph faster or fall 3 inches later and hit my head on the tree. and i was wearing a helmet and if i wasnt and i hit the tree, i would have like died or been seriously fucked up. while if my shin hit a tree goin that fast it would hurt alot and id probably break it, but id have to wear a cast for 4 weeks or something instead of being dead, which to me is alot better.
i dont always wear helmets but probably 95% of the time i do. and i like them better than hats cause mine is really comfortable, i can listen to music, it plays music, an it holds my goggles. so why not wear a helmet?
your just stupid if you think its dumb to always wear a helmet, there is no reason not to.
im not going to call someone stupid because they dont wear a helmet, if they dont want to thats cool, but its just retarted to say its dumb to always wear a helmet.

i have to say i really enjoy the feeling of freedom cruising around groomers or throwing very stock tricks with just a toque on. but if im off the groomers or trying anything with the risk of a crash i buckle up the lid, cuz its no burden and it does give me some extra confidence.

this year i plan on going off and on with my helmet and beanie. my helmet is keeps me warm, safe, and i can listen to my music cuz of the tune-ups.
but my beanie is madd sick!!! and i might just wear it when im sessionin shit, and use my earphones to listen to music. beanie was made by EC headwear get some!!

My dad told me this. When he was a Ski Patroler at Sugarbush this one girl went down Stein's Run without a helmet and she fell and by the time she got to the bottom of the trail, he said her head was the size of a watermelon. I know this goes agaisnt the point in what I said but I was watching the local news and it was talking about how much helmets actually do for you. It was pretty 50/50. But I'm sticking to my helmet.
