I know this is rediculously dumb, but how do u take off the grip to ur ski pole? do u just heat it and the glue will loosen? I got some poles the other day at this ski swap and this dude was telling me to get a size bigger than the ones that i ended up getting. i was telling him i needed smaller, so he just said buy them, then u can cut it down to ur height if u dont like it. so i was thinking, well i guess it's better to get poles that are too big and can shorten later, than get poles that are too short that i cant make longer. so i did. i went home and they were bigger than the poles i was borrowing from my dad last year, so i wass gonna cut them down to that size, but apparently they're glued on.
if you have skinny little girl arms then you can boil a pot of water and place them in the water after it has cooled a bit then after several minutes pulll them out wrap a towel around the grip and it should pop off with a lot more ease than jsut brute forcing it off
i ended up putting sum wd40 in there and shoving a screwdriver down it and it worked, now i just gotta cut it. but that part'll be easy because i have this clamp that u rotate around the pole and cuts into it. thanks.
put the pole through the crack on the hinge side of an open door... close the door just enough so that when you pull the pole the bottom of the grip will catch on both sides of the crack... then yank your little heart out... sometime it'll take 3 or 4 good pulls before they pop off.
go to your local store to cut them (if you don't wnat to just use a hack saw) and they'll have a little pole cutter device... it's a pretty cool little gadget actually..
then just slam those grips back on... I never even reglue and dont' have any problems
PLEASE DEAR GOD DON'T LISTEN TO THOSE OTHER POSTS. THe easiest and least destructive way to take off a grip is to soak it in hot very hot water for an hours or so. After that it sill slid right off with little more than a tug. No go do it right now an dsee ow easy it is and how rediculus these other ideas are.
