The National Forest Service were upset on how Northstar was treating the land this last year. The NFS stated they had been hiding chemical wastes to save money. The ski hill will be closed all 2005-2006 season.
I dunno about that... I'll believe it when I see an official statement. They just invested so much money to expand the resort so there's no way they are just gonna go out without a shit load of law suites.
Takes a long time for the forest service to shut down anything, if they even were trying to shut down Northstar. I doubt they are. They might be fining them, might be attempting to shut down a run or a lift or a building, but I really highly doubt that anyone would be shutting down an entire resort.
It would take years to do it if they were.
Isnt northstar private property? they might close it down to DH because well we tear the fuck out of it but there is no way booth creek resorts is gonna take it in the ass and shut down for the winter.
Actually one of my best buddies is one of the higher up managers at northstar, I forget what he does but he is definitley near the top of at northstar. And he actually confirmed the rumor. Northstar will definitley be closed this season and possibly next season although he thinks they have a pretty good chance of clearing up the problem by next season. Im not sure what the problem was it wasnt necessarily chemical waste..but it was some kind of waste issue.
i spent 400$ like 3 weeks ago on a season pass, if this is true, i swear to god, im gunna go fuking nuts, i'm gunna break in and steal so much shit from that place!
N* basically pays every Forest servicemans salary with the rent they pay. Shutting down N* would mean massive layoffs and revenue loss. There is no way this is even a possible true story. They would have been all over the news for the last year like every other protestation in truckee. This i a several billion dollar joke and it definitly is less funny than Tanner Hall going to Harvard last April fools.
No I am not wrong, i just got off the phone with my buddy who is head of ski school operations there. He definitley said this season n* is giong to be shut down, next season is a possibilty. Also due to forest service requirements season pass refunds will not happen.
bulshit , legally they would have to refund passes you dickhead, you just fucked up your haox. They damn near gave free pases to Mountainbikers with seaosn passes because they closed it down 2 weeks early for construction. You fucked up.
haha he fucked up right off the bat when he mentioned the forest service for the reason of closing. Oh ya i heard alta was closing because they are moving the waste from Yucca mountain into alta, so sad.
most ski areas arent private property. they have the land on loan from the goverment for so many monthe out of the year. they kind of own it but not really. so its probably not private property
wrong...N* is not closing and it is on privately owned property...some development has been suspended due to water quality violations by the east-west company and booth creek holdings, but that does not affect the ski area...the USFS has no authority to close a oprvatately owned area...
