I recently sold some old crap on eBay, and I have between 300 and 400 to spend on some new skis. I'm a pretty light guy (145 lbs), and I spend about 30% of my time in moguls, 30% in steeps, and 30% in the park. I was thinking Invaders, or Pub Enemys. What do your expert opinions recommend?
I haven't ridden the invaders, but just from what I know of them, they seem like they'd be a little soft for riding the steeps. I'd step up to something like Chronics or Motherships. They'll be stiffer but still good in the park. Chronics would probably be better in the moguls though since they're narrower.
I reccomend PE's i ripped em through everything from east coast ice park to west coast deep pow and they can handle everything still holding up after one hard season of 45+ days
You definitely can't have a great mogul and pow ski in one package, but I'm just looking for a compromise. My troublemakers were awful in pow, so I think I need something a little wider or with a little less sidecut.
What about the other 10%? I ride PEs and I loved em in all conditions. I've heard some people say they are stiff, but I ride about the same type of stuff as you, pow, park, steeps, moguls and they are fun on everything
i would suggest the cronic wide, i demoed them in may. They are a good all around ski and still are sick in the park. but they will not do well in the moguls
I think I'm going for the Chronics, they sound light and quick enough to be good in moguls, but they've got enough tip and tail to keep it going in the steeps. And they obviously kick ass in the park, with the ollie band and what not.
