getting biger skis is stuoid, just get skis that fit you. Most likely people on this site are getting biger skis because they are mostly in the age group of 15-18 and still growing, thus needing bigger skis.
Big skis help for skiing outside of the park(which some of us do), and for hitting bigger jumps. The only advantage I see to having short skis is that it'll be easier to spin off rails or ski urban stuff.
longer skis are able to handle high speed better, that's why racers still ski some long sticks. Also it's why the b4 comes in a 195, and most other big mountian skis come in something over 185, while park skis don't.
I'm 6' and i ride 167s. They're up to my nose. I don't like skis that are too long because they're harder to do up-slope rails. Ride what you want man.
im like the opposite^^. I am like 5' 5" and I ride K2 179cm, which I think is really a 187cm? Im not sure, I heard K2 measures differently. anyway I like longer skis because they feel more stable to me and in the air they feel smoother and faster....or maybe Im just weird. Im not sure.
right,i bought my invader in june in 178 anf they were to big then, but i grew 2 1/2 iches since then, and they are perfect now, about 1-2 cms taller than me
If you ski a lot of powder big long fat skis are what you want. Much easier and more fun in powder. I ski 195 Volkl Gotamas. 105mm wide under foot 2 feet of pow skis like a groomer. If you don't ski much pow don't get big fat long skis as it will be more difficult and less fun on groomers. Always go twin tip though.
