Split-tail...Superwide...

How do you find split tailed skis? The biggest ski i have ewer skied is my maden ak (108) how about the Volkel sanouk, the Salomon xxx or this prophet-thing witch i have newer seen.( is it ewen split-tailed??)I find my Kneissel tanker(95) more stabile than the maden in allmost all conditions. How do you like your super wide skis? (in high speeds) Maybe skis dont have to be THAT big.

I would have the sanouk in one half second if i could ski it switch .. I mean i could do it but i couldnt land anythign switch.. Sanouks are the fucking raddest things ever though . IM getting Jp's instead.

The prophet 130 are masher skis too, I recomend everyone put atleast a day on them,, Not to be a bitch but i rode the originals( pollards) and the new ones and fuck they are fun. They kill it on flat rails too,, redick stable you can like dance and shit on the rail and not evenhave to use your arms to balance. Kicked rail.... uh yeah a bit wide for them.

I have some pretty wide skis...or did. one just sold but:

190 Igneous FFF - 145/118/125

Spatula - 120/125/115

what do you want to know about them? They are dope.

Uh, Forgot about the spatulas.. How are they? I want something superwide, but i dont know if i should go for a split. What have you got? And what do you like(I am a pow dog)

no gonna lie, everytime I write it down it gives me a hard-on. It is hard when all those skis are within 10 feet of you.

it will grow old soon...when it snows. but the anticipation is killing me.

Anyway, spats are fun. Actually just sold them because no real reason to have two super fats. Amazing soft snow skis. The best tree skis I've ever been on, probably on of the best cut up snow skis because the tips dont catch, and in corn they are money. barable on hardpack, not a blast, you slide around. It is ok though.

Reason I sold them is I'm not really into making big turns on them. They do ok, but on big pow turns I like to feel the skis turn, and spats aren't like that. the FFF are.

So, the FFF is my current pow ski. Stiff as fuck, fairly fat (sad that I will call 118 in the waist fairly fat, but there are much fatter skis now), will do better on hardpack than the spats, and are more durable. My FFF are also a straight tailed version, no swallow tail, but according to Adam Sherman at Igneous they ski the exact same with or without.

As far as super fats, the ones I would honestly consider are:

Igneous FFF - 118 waist, swallow tail
Volkl Sanouk - 110?? waist, swallow tail
Spatula - 125, reverse side cut
Capital G-funkenstein - 162 waist!!!, reverse sidecut
Capital thrasher - 121 waist, swallow tail
DB Tabla Rosa - 118? in the waist, swallow tail

there are a few more....but those are probably those are the best out there.

From what I've heard about prophets 130 they kind of suck. Some people love them though, so maybe see if you could demo. Maybe sumos if your really short.

As far as not being able to go switch with a swallow tail......

on the days when I will have the FFFs out I probably wont be concerned with going switch. Some people will, and that limits there decisions, but not mine.

On days with some pow and the possiblility of skiing switch I will bring out the vicious. My usual mountain (crystal) doesn't have a park yet anyway.

So, if you have no concern about going switch those superfats above are dope.

Some companies allow for customs, too. Captial allow you for a little more money to swap the tails on any of their skis for a bit more money. So, you could get a trasher with a twin if you wanted.

Some people aren't concerned with skiing switch on a powder day as well, and in those case a swallow tail is dope.

At last some serious input. thanx so much. About the igneus,-i dont think its in eurupe. i have seen a all wodden ski called something like BOHEME in my shop -does anyone know it. and how about the salomon xxx? Are you serious about the Capital G-funkenstein...162?? Sounds imposible to me. Must be the fattest ski ewer.

Igneous is custom skis made in Jhole. Im sure they will ship to Europe.

And both Capital and Igneous use all wooden topsheets, just so you know.

The salomon swallow tails are suppose to be pretty dope.

The G-funkenstein would be dope in powder. probably inpossible on hardpack though.

My man. I have the madens, and they are ok, but not THAT great. Dont know if i should go for something fatter? Bythe way, the SUMOS dont work for me, im allmost 2 m tall.

yeah, made'ns are dope, but I wouldn't consider them a super fat.

But that is just nit-picking. They are really fat, have a twin, and are dope. But, like this guy said, he has made'ns. Not many skis to considering that are fatter than made'ns

it doesn't really sound like you need a fatter ski necessarily. it sounds like your tankers aren't fat enough and your made'n's aren't stable enough. you should try some armada ANT's. about the same size as your made'n's, but MUCH stiffer. if youre made'n's are noticeably not stable enough, then you need something beefier.

Check out the new Nordica Blower (no shit, that's the name) coming out in november. Race-room style wood laminate ski with lots o' metal, around 110 waist (I think...maybe a little more, maybe less). Should be a whol' lotta ski, and PLENTY stable...

I f'ing love my Made'ns. They are such a versatile ski for their size.

I also snagged a pair of Sanouks for this year, so I'll post a review once I get a chance to get up on them a few times. I generally like twins too, but on a day deep enough to warrant using the Sanouk, I won't be worried with going switch too much.

The wood topsheet is this year's Sanouk. Last year's are mostly black and have the samurai dude on them.

yeah, though, sanouks are supposed to be dope as fuck. Supposedly they are extremely manuverable, even though they are 193cm.

when luke gets to ski them well see how they fair.

Last years samauri graphic was awesome. This years is dope as well.

now i just need to break my current gotamas to get the new ones....

The new Gots are SICKSICKSICK. The ones you have a dope as hell too, but the new ones are def one of the best graphics this year.

I'd get a pair, but I need those like I need a hole in my head.

This may be a dumb question but since I am from the EC powder skis are not real popular...but what is the purpose of the swallow tail? Does it help keep the tail of the ski down so your tips stay up better?

Also, do you really need a ski with a larger waist than 100? The prophet 100s or Seth Vicous/Pistol are the ski I think I would want. Maybe I will buy a pair the the Seths for trips out west and crud days here.

It gets your tails down via sinking n powder when you turn so your tips come up like your on a ski mounted way far back but it gives you mad stability when not turning because of its length.

and a ski wider than 100 isnt really neccesary, but its nice sometimes. depends on the pow day, but alot of times we get dumped on here in alaska. its nice float without working at it. also it helps your legs and such alot when landing drops into pow. dont have to work as hard to get out of your powder hole and ride away. basically its cus were lazy.

yeah. this is true for sure.

I think around 95-105 is good everyday and 110-130 is good for powder days.

I am going to buy something in the 100 waist range, but am not sure what to get...has any one skied the new Seth Vicious? I prefer a stiffer ski....would the Prophet 100 be stiffer with the metal matrix (titanium die cut top sheet thingy)...any other good choices?
Maybe the Scratch BC? I want something for crude, powder days (east coast and west).

I defenetly don't want the swallow tail...(like to ride switch and what not.

Any experience with these skis would be great...please don't say they are all awesome...but in the end maybe I would just get whatever I can find the cheapest.

i don't know about the metal matrix, but the prophet 100 would be a good choice. i know it's pretty stiff so it should be able to power through crud well, and not do too bad at holding an edge.

the seth vicious is softer than the prophet, and the better choice for spinning off cliffs and things like that. the new progressive sidecut holds and edge well on hardpack, and shouldn't do too bad in crud. but the 98 mm waist isn't over the 100 you're looking for.

i think a lot of skis over 100mm in the waist are going to be too soft for you, like the maden ak.

When I said 100 range I ment nothing to much bigger than 100 and nothing to much smaller than 100....I think the profits with some scratch 140 ti's will be good

I just wish powder skis were cheaper...600 bucks for the prophets and 250 for the scratch 140's...I already bought Lange Comp 120fr boots, scratch 120's for my chronics...some cheap tyrolas for my mombas, a new coat (patagonia primo), new gloves (primo also, and some spyder spring gloves), pants (spyder tyrantula), and scott a-12 poles.....I am easily going to have 2Gs in new equipment this season...good thing I have a job!!!
