I'll try to keep this from being a rant...here it goes.
I feel that it's high time people figure out what the hell they mean by progression. So many people on this site just throw the term around loosely every day without ever giving thought to what they actually mean. Many of the posts deal with skiing more as an industry rather than the technical progression of the sport itself but the person posting is never clear about what side they are speaking on.
Is Sage being in a Nissan ad hindering the progression of the newschool industry or the technical aspect of the sport?
Furthermore, many of the people who hark upon the progression of skiing as an industry make contradictory statements.
I read posts all the time that say "supporting core companies means more money for the sport and in turn more for the riders and sponsorships" but then whenever someone makes it big they are called a sell out. (I'm not just referring to Sage/Nissan, Look at Johnny M./MTV)
I personally don't even use the word because I feel that it's a cliche term used by individuals in our sport to pretend that they are doing something bigger in this world than just riding around on a couple of wooden sticks.
So let's hear it....What does "Progression/Progress" really mean......
