I jsut got some sweet Salamon cross maxs. im going to take off the pilot bindings and I have a new pair of markers. would it screw up the sidecut and carving abilities if i center mounted them.
and should i go core or true center

You planning on jibbing with crossmax's?

not jibbing. i dont want to ruin the edges. just rec. racing and a little bit of jumping. i would centermount them so they would be more agile for jumping...no?

hahahahha that would completely ruin the ski it would have n0 use whatsoever any more the bindings need to be mounted in a specific place so u can still carve good other wise you would have the narrowest part of the ski a foot back from the bindings

i know it would ruin it a bit, but what about when people centermount ARVs and stuff. 99% of twins out there do not have symmetrical side cut. I think the flex that the marker bindings allow would partially make up for it

Don't do it, if you want a "whatever" park ski, just get a super cheap one thats like 3 year old or something.

how do you have 1500 posts and seem to know nothing about skiing?

ya but they dont carve good. I want a ski that i can hold an edge on a nice big carve, mebbe do a few laps through the boardercross and hit the jumps at the bottom.

nah man, very very bad idea.
This ski was designed to NOT we center mounted, the skiing will just be awful not matter what happens if you do this.

but i just bought them and some markers. its such a sick set up, but i want to hit the park just a little bit. They carve soooooo good to begin with i still think they would be better then most. and when they are center mounted i will be able to spin 3s easier. i wouldnt want to land backwards with them, just full spins.
would core center be better then, cause its a bit farther back

yeah, but if you don't center mount them it woun't affect them that much.if you can pull a 3 on any type of ski, then you will be able to pull it off of this.
Centremount i find is more effective for rails then airs.

i cant really pull a 3 on any ski. the tips are s long on these 164s that i think they will get in the way. just spinning 3s on the rollers at the end of the boarder cross and stuff

yeah, but unless you are an incredible pro, centre mount is not gonna affect your performance in the air. It is all in your mind man, the bad outweights the good in this situation.

the ski will break without the pilot plate on there dont drill into the ski its not structually sound except for where the pilot holes are attached. you'll fuck yourself up but that may be even funnier then your first idea of jibbin on crossmaxs'

im not going to grind on these! just a bit of spinning. i never thought about the ski not being able to be drilled.
wouldnt a pro be able to spin on anything, and crappy beginners need the perfect ski

you have to be kidding me, you are going to try and centermount on a crossmax pilot? that would be a total waste of those skis.

I think it's a wicked idea. I hear hacksaws are the shit for sawing through pilot plates.
But real men use chainsaws or .45s. BIATCH!

u don't need to center mount a ski to be able to spin good on them u nong. I have a pair of B2's that are mounted at recomended spot, and i can spin 3's with them easy. If u centre mount that ski u will fuck it, listen to every1

just pick up a pair of cheap park skis like the fujatives or the invaders if you wanna ski park. otherwise leave the crossmaxs alone.

i think more than half of the community here learn a 3 without center mounting...and it's not even that hard, i still am mounted tradionally and i learned 180s on a directional ski. i don't know why would you want to get rid of the pilot system and replaces it with a normal bolt on binding. the whole point of that ski/binding system is so you can flex the whole ski but you are going to redo what the R&D guys worked hard on. be a man and learn a 3 on your race skis, trust me just commit to it and learn 180 first.

leave the crossmax's were they are. if you are going to hit the park just a little bit then they will be fine were they are at.

I would strongly sugest that you wouldnt center mount them, but you could mount the bindings a little bit forward from the original mark, that would give you some quicker turning abilities.. but still if you like to go fast and gs turns i would mount them on the original mark.

Dear Hemlockjibber8, I can't believe that you are considering doing this! I did the exact same thing last season to my crossmaxes! They are sooo awesome, they carve so good and are way easy to spin 3's on, especially in the boardercross rollers. Do it man, you will not regret it. Freestyle boardercross is going to be huge in 2007. We will be pros by the time everyone else catches on.

finally. thats what i thought would happen. it makes sense to me. have your bindings ripped out liek everyone said they would? i totally think its fun spinning on the boarder cross rollers.
freestyle boardercross... i like it

no, not at all! in fact, I lost a couple of screws for the bindings before I mounted them, so the skis flex more and it helps with spinning.

DONT do it. The pilots are crappy enough as they are. remounting them in center will only make it a useless ski.If you are lucky, you will bracke them in half. Sell them and by a wornout parkski... THEN throw your 3s!

no im not remounting the pilots. im putting on some sweet Markers I got.
I dont know about leaving screws out for flex. that sounds sketchy

I don't see how it would be sketchy. I did the same thing with my old 1080s, and it was AWESOME. It really increases snow feel and makes spinning 3s off rollers way fucking easier and radder.
Oh ya, leaving out screws increases your steeze factor by like, 2323452143242 million.
Steezy yo!
