well hes probably a raging anti-semetic person so hes going to say that the jews made it up and that it never really happened but im not sure dont quote me or just use my advice why dont you google it or something
quite the contrary. His point is that it wasn't a man such as hitler that caused the Holocaust, but it was the deeply engraved antisemitism of the germans that allowed it to happen. And not only that, but the germans (for the most part) saw the genocide as right, and were willing to take part in it.
i would like to argue a point of his (for a school paper, of course)but i keep getting convinced by what he says
I have no knowledge of him other than what you just wrote, but from taht alone I would say that there is a good debate that cold be had around his points. Clearly the holocaust couldn't have happened without the help, or 'looking the other way' the germans did, and I think he's right in that sense. however, without a leader like hitler, could it have happened either? Very interesting points to ponder.
Ya...Isn't he the guy that suggested that the entire war was caused not entirely by Hitler as suggested before, but also by the action and inaction of the Allies? Also, Marx would suggest that powerful leaders are the result of economic, social and political situations, and thus had hitler not come along, another leader would have been produced. When you read about him he doesn't seem so strong, flawless and intelligent. He had creepy fetishes, weak mannerisms...all sorts of stuff.
but it is a very interesting thought if it wasn't Hitler, could it have been someone else? could someone of a different charisma have accomplished it? Could have different circumstances in the past have prevented it? (what if there was no great depression in Germany??)
very interesting for sure
