I doubt any "core" companies arn't trying to turn a profit, lets not be niave here. No one starts a company with the intentions of being broke. Selling skis isn't THAT fun.

A core company is in the sport to push it to new extremes. Progression is core. Like Ninthward randomly putting bamboo in a ski this year, that's core. And Line making a 130mm waist ski turn like it were butter on bread, that's core. 4FRNT letting vinnie dorien put silly little elves on his pro models with progressively bigger turn radii against their general sizing trend, that's core. Armada making the sweetest park skis ever one year and the next year making the biggest stiffest board on the planet for One of their skiers to ski and all the rest of us to galk over, that is core. Real fur on my hood this year, that's core. Starting in some fools garage and within a season or two pushing an entire industry in new directions is core. Starting a business in an already flooded and extremely competetive market and somehow turning a profit, that is so effing core cuz if they do make money they can reinvest it into being even more core next year. Startups making conglamerates fear for their future is what core is all about.

ummmmmmmm would you want to start a company and have to put your own money into it to keep it running, why would you want to do that to give people good skis when you dont even make money? every company needs to make a profit, so by saying reguardless of profit is very inacurate.
