Way to man of the kids these days are solely park, and they don't realize that theres a whole nother experience out there. You can do everything in the backcountry as you can do in the park, plus everything is 10 times as big. the park is fun, im not saying its not, but everybody these days is ranting about how park is what will progress this sport. I disagree. I do feel that it will have an impact, but people need tp realize their skiing roots, and head more for the all natural shit. Even Tanner Hall, who is one of the leading pioneers in park skiing these days said in a statement that he wanted to get more into the Big mountain scene. Why not join him?
what if you live in the east where theres powder a couple times a year and the only "BC" is trees where you can't do anything newschool? alls i got is park.
i agree with bishop. everyone fuckn says that kids in the park don't know how to ski.........thats not fukn true. i spend fukn all day in the park unless it's a powder day, i know how to ski anything, i use to race and so did a lot of people who are in the newschool scene........
I love powder too... when I'm skiing somewhere that there is powder.
I live and work in the East coast. It just makes me so angry that people always tell me I don't know how to ski because i live here. Maybe I don't, but whatever. Just let me enjoy myself without the constant bickering.
i live in ohio and ski a 300 vertical foot park all day long every day i ski. the only time i get to ski natural terrain is about two weeks out of the year when i am on vacation in utah and california. i totally agree though, there are wayyyyy too many kids who think park is the only thing that matters. but i really dont care, like someone said a few posts up, more pow for me!
you guys talk about park rats and how their always in the park, at snowbird and im sure other places also you DONT see kids in the park on bomber pow days... most parks aren't even dug out yet. so i dont think most kids are as bad as you claim them to be, but i love skiing all mountain, even when the snow isn't that good, look at the free-skiing nations sometimes the snow is shitty but they still gotta ski it, skiing "big mountain" on not so good snow days makes you a super sick skier.
big mountain skiing is fucking gay, yeah lets wear tight pants and jerk each other off. I live in Utah and I don't even goto the resorts on pow days because the park isn't dug out yet.
IF the snow is shit im in the park. if its good you wont see me all day , anywhere. Im the guy that comes out of the trees are your like " what the fuck , where did he come from"....
If you can do it in the bc then you can certainly do it in the park.. Park is fun and all but it's like camping in a huge ass 40 ft motor home with maid service vs. camping in a tent where you have to get firewood and shit and make a fire.. personally i dig camping not staying in a hotel on wheels... learning tricks on natural hits, cliffs, bc booters and just plain riding deep powder is so much fun you can improvise so much.. vs. having that perfectly manicured park lip and landing. i don't know I personally love the bc.. and to all ya all on the east coast keep riding park if thats all ya got but as soon as your not livin with mommy and daddy move out west and learn how to ski... im not hatin on any of ya im just sayin that west kicks ass.. deep snow big mountains and there is a reason the film companies tend to stay to the midwest and west of the us...
