this is a joke. i love the sport, but how can u really make an argument that its the most progressive sport? im not tryin to be a know it all beotch, but seriously, look at something like auto racing and dont be so close minded in the future.

skiing started with two pieces of crap strapped to your feet, people could hardly turn. They used to groom by skiing down the hill with a plow behind them, and people got killed doing it even. Now what are people doing? spinning on and off rails, spinning both ways, skiing backwards, throwing backflips off of 90 ft cliffs, trying switch 9's over a 120 natural gap.

auto racing just got a bit faster, and who the fuck plays cricket anyways?

^exactly. but 4 the record, auto racing didnt just get faster, it had 2 be invented first. and car tech is a lot more advanced than ski tech.

what's so 'evolved' about skiing? over the years, we've gone from thin skis,= to fat twins, from noodling to freestyle. from tight flashy clothes to ghetto baggy clothes. that's a pretty big claim to make with nothing there to back it up.

i think the evolution of a sport would encompass it's natural growth across nations, and it's development to a primary source of entertainment among the average household. take a look at hockey for example. started with a dude hitting a rock with a branch on a frozen patch of watch, to 6 north american teams, to 30 north american teams and other spread across the globe, and today we have so many products endorsed by the nhl, players being idols to kids growing up; the average person knows who wayne gretzgy is, but how many people would say they're familiar with the name 'tanner hall'?, we see it on tv all the time, everybody knows about hockey. now that's what i call evolution of a sport.

I dont know about the most evolved sport, but I think we definatly have the most contrasting sport, as like the whole newschool VS. oldschool/racing, I cant really think of any other sports that have as much of a gap as we do.

these 2 words can mean the same thing, depending on the context of their usage. and saying that skiing isnt the most evolved/hasn't ADVANCED the most isnt 'talking down' the sport. its simply opening my eyes and looking at the world around me and not being a completely biased asshole.
