all these guys who are calling you a noob probably just know what it means and are too proud to admit. And for all of you, MC means master of ceremonies.
me and a friend were arguing over this for like a month a while back....straight off rapdictionary.net
Probably Jamaican, in which case it comes from the TV game shows, Master of Ceremonies (although the term existed before TV). It was the only person at a gathering that was allowed to use the microphone. Could also stand for Microphone Controller, Mic Checka. The term, MC, stand for Master of Ceremonies --- A Tribe Called Quest (Midnight Marauders [1993]).
MC, (or Emcee) a skilled rapper. True MCs use skills that are often ingnored in hip hop today. These skills include wordplay / punchlines, metaphors, similies, multis, flow and switch ups. To the party people out there, we want y'all just to know that we are the four MC's and we are the star of the show -- Afrika Bambaataa Zulu Nation Cosmic Force (Zulu Nation Throwdown)
well it all started when flava flave was so stoned that he couldnt remember how to write anything but M C and he could only say YEAA BOIII. so he went around writing MC on everything and saying YEAAAH BOIII. And since flava flave is so cool and is in public enemy everyone started using the term MC.
THE END
MC's started off as the guys that announced the next break at the dj dance partys and they just got the crowd going and stuff and they slowly evolved into doing more stuff, eventually rapping.
