OK this movie makes me mad
Don't judge me yet, i'm 21 yrs old and I've been skiing since I was 4 and I got into freeskiing/newschool back before Degenerates, I got State of Mind when it came out and have been with it ever since. Happy Dayz really showed me something though and it kind of upsets me, it really shows us the sport is traveling in the wrong direction. If you look at who has the longest and biggest segments, its Tanner, Boyd, CR, and Raps. There are others but i;ll talk about these first. They all ski the same. Yes they are all the 'leaders' of our sport and they have all adopted this goddamn gorilla style and ganster attitude. Now before you say everyone has their own style and dont worry about how they ride, hear me out. Before last year all these guys had their own style. Tanner could throw insanely clean and perfect tricks, raps laid out all his Dspins and corked out all his lui kang jumps, CR through mad bio and crossed up corked jumps, and Boyd was tweaking the hell out of all his jumps. Now they all look like the same person, Is this really a good thing? THIS IS THE REASON MIKE DOUGLAS, JP AUCLAIR, JON OLSSON, and CANDIDE and all the rest of the best and originators HATE this new worthless style. It takes away the individual style of each skier, plus it looks ridiculous any way you look at it. It makes them look like fucking beginners. This is why Happy Dayz wasnt good in my opinion. Skiers with their own style(Henrik, JF, Vinnie, Pep, Philou, etc) had tiny segments but Johnny decided to give the biggest segments to the 'COOL' skiers. No offense, but it seems like he only showed the skiers he decided were the popular ones right now and not the skiers who had the most impressive skills to showcase. Anyway, just my trhoughts
