they never are unless you really have that much music but id go for the shuffle its smaller and not over kill are you really going to listen to 9,000 songs while skiing in one day

i think its not a good idea for like 25 to 50 bucks more you can get a 20gb ipod, the nano is only what, like 6gb? just my .02$

the nano has a 2 gig and a 4 gig and the 2 gig hold 500 songs the 4 gig holds 1000 songs and they are extremely strong i ate shit on a road gap with my bike and landed on it on some rocks and it was fine....not even a scratch

yea i got so much music and i do listen to most of it, i just put my mp3 player on random. and i wouldnt get the nano just because of the price and the fact that it doesnt hold very much music. go with creative labs. i love mine.

I'm going to buy a nano after my b day (oct 16th) when i get some cash. The biggest nano is 4gigs and it costs $299 canadian, not that bad. I looked some stuff up on it and it seems to be wicked. The fact that you could swallow it is awesome, their so tiny. They can fit in a girls change pocket in their pants. Yah girls pants are tight, but not the big pocket, that little one that you can barely get your fingers in thats inside the normal pocket. And it can take a pounding. Bunch of guys stress tested one, sat on it, dropped it out a car up to 50mph and even ran out it with a car (one pass over it with two tires) it was a bmw if you really wanna know. This thing still played music but the screen was really really messed up. For the finaly test they threw it 40 feet or so up in the air and let it smack pavement, that was the end of it. nanos are probably the worst investment for an ipod if u ski with it...i have my 15gig 3rd generation ipod (the one before the clicker wheel) and i have a ski mix on shuffle. suits me finee. but doesn anyone else's ipod lose power faster in the cold? and anyone have with ideas to help this

I would think Nano would be the best for skiing. Holds more than shuffle...and is still solid state, so no skips, and more durable than normal ipod. Not to mention the size of the bitch...

shuffle's best for skiing cause there's no screen so the battery life is a hell of a lot better

my friend had his nano for like a week and put it in his football bag for an away game and later when he pulled it out the thing shattered. so idk if u were there for those tests but that is bs. besides a freaking 20gig or 40gig is perfect ....it can be used for more than just mp3 files and i do have a shitload of songs.

The Ipod Nano come in 4 and 2 gig sizes. It's a great thing for skiing. It holds 1000 songs yes, but your not going to go through more then.. 500 at the very ut most in day unless their all short songs. To keep your i pod batteris going keep it on the inside of your jacket by your chest to keep heat to it, or grab some hand warmer pads and toss one in the pocket where your i pod is. As for loosing the nano it;s best to keep it in a case that you can buy. There are really neat wallet cases and can also hold a credit card or money as well as your nano, i'm going to get one of these. And if your buying any Apple products i suggest you get the warrenty incase anything happens. The battery life on a nano is 14 hours, just one hour short of a i pod's battery time, so their just as good, except smaller in memory size and actual size. They measure 8.9 cm long 3.9 wide and .7 cm thick (smaller then a number 2 pencil) later

Yah about the screen smashing. There were a lot of complaints about scratches and cracking screens. A guy made a website to get Apples attention and it worked well. Basically he said that his screen broke and he called the Apple store that he lived by and they said they do not replace screens etc etc. So Apple saw this and alot of people were responding on his site saying they had the same problem. So eventually Apple put an end to it and replaced all scratched or broken screens (even after saying that it was made of polyurathane which was their strongest plastic) and said they would look into re designing it to make it strong and less scatch resistant. As for it cracking in his football bag, thats pretty weird. They ran over it with a car (two tires) and it played music. I'm not saying that it never happened it just might have had other abuse to it, theres alot of crap in a foot ball bag. And he also might of had one of the first i pod nanos, they might have sence improved. Anyway i'd just say spend 40 bucks, get a sweet looking case and your set. And what do you expect, anything that small has a smaller breaking point then bigger things.
