hey my gf was using a q tip in her ear this morning and the cotton part at the end came off some how and his stuck in her ear. it doesn't hurt she says but i can't see it or get it out. anyone have any ideas? she had to go to work now so what would you do? i tried shaking her head really fast but that just made her mad.
Yeah you probably don't want to rupture a ear drum... so have her call in work and tell them she is going to the emergency room. I'm sure they will take care of it real quick and then make sure she brings the note from the emergency room to work so they can't bring anything up against her for being late.
I tried tweezer already, it's way in there. And we don't want to use another one because it could push it in farther. I'm thinking put a small dab of super glue on the end of a new one and hope it "grabs" it?
go to the hospital. it will be easy and painless for them to do it. you don't have the equipment or the know how, and would not want to rupture and eardrum. trust me on the one.. i've had it happen. most painful shit... ever.
ya dude, stop everything and go to teh hospital. you could rupture the inner ear and cause massive damage, even make her go deaf.
i had my ears clogged up bad where it felt like i was under water at all times. could barely hear. i had to get them flushed and they were like looks like a q-tip. yet i dont use them so i knew it wasnt haha
i suggest high pressure water.. like shower nozzle, water pick or syringe. that's what you really should use to clean out your ears with anyways.. doctor recommended.
i've had 6 ear surgeries and many many times i have been to the ear dotctor. never ever have i had anything like that. you can't see enough water pressure to clean the ear rupturing a thinner eardrum?
Well since you're the ear expert, do you think that q-tips are smart? not intending to start an argument but for blocked ear-drums it's a recommended step. Obviously don't blast water in there though.. but seriously though, who comes on here and asks for medical advice?
from a website..
" Use a syringe to gently direct a small stream of water against the ear canal wall next to the wax plug. Tip the head to allow the water to drain. Irrigation may need to be repeated several times.
Never irrigate the ear if the eardrum is not known to be intact, because irrigation with a ruptured eardrum may cause ear infection or acoustic trauma."
