I need long spikes in my hair to stand up

my formerly long-ass hair has now been cut, and now it's only about 3-4 inches long, and it looks gay normally, so how do i get it to stay up in spikes? do i need something homemade? plus i'm in arizona right now for the next 2 weeks, no skiings, i'm going insane, and this is all i have to think about, plese help.
We have an old saying down on the bayou....Blehhhhh!!!

Nope, i need to have consistently badass hair. and where can you buy this afrobutter, cause it sounds like just what i'm looking for. droopy spikes are some of the most depressing things in the entire world, even more than retirement homes and the salvation army.

yah or hair glue that you buy at hair care stores. this kid at my school liberty spikes his hair every day and he uses that stuff. it's sweet.

yeah the knox is where it's at. same with the elmers, bolth of them are way cheaper than gel/hairglue/afrobutter.

I used a gel called ICE, the shit's like cement and dries in about 2 minutes after you put it on, totally rock solid, great stuff

when i spike/hawk my hair, i use knox or cheaper brand gelatin. elmers glue does the job, but smells weird. jake from the casualties, a real punk band, rocks knox for his big ass hawk

My hair used to be shaggy, shoulder length all the way around, but my parents won't let me drive until I cut it, so that's what I'm gonna do. I don't even like punk music, and teh spikes aren't going to be straight up, kinda low. thanks for all the suggestions, i haven't replies because i can only get to a computer about once every 3 days here in arizona.

i used ICE hair glue to hold up 6 inch spikes in my hair before i dreaded it, works reall good, super hard to wash out too

I keep my hair at about 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches long, and spike it. I use elemers glue (doesn't matter if it's washable). It kicks ASS!!! It does smell kinda weird...but who gives a shit what your hair smells like. I still need to try out Knox though.

punkskiboarder, 2.5-3.5 inches is actually really short in comparison. You could get away with regular hair gel.
Anywas, Elmers does work extremely well, few draw backs. Knox, if you don't get it all out, it'll start to smell rank. There's downsides to everything used for spiking. Thats why I gave up spiking and got skier dreads instead.

Yeah, my bad about the length, i was just guesstimating, i measured it, and the length i have it right now is about 3 1/2 inches, and i let it grow to about 4 1.2 in. I used to get it cut a lot shorter and reg. hair gel did work...but i keep it longer and elmers is way fuckin cheaper to!!
