Dilema (what do I do)?

So last night a family friend died unexpectedly. I used to mow the families lawn, and the kids used to baby sit me when i was young (they are both much older than me). the funeral is saturday, but I have had plans to ski friday, stay overnight at a condo that nioght, and do a comp saturday. My parents have left the choice up to me. Do i go to the funeral, or ski? I was very close to the family, but I didn't interact with the one who died much...what do I do?

Man, that is hard. I really dunno. 9MK has a good point, but it's still so hard. Because it's mroe then just skiing it soudns like. It sounds like you have solid plans laid down.

ya, I've had tenative plans laid down for a few weeks now.. but I would feel guilty if I wasn't at the funeral, but i would also regret not skiing becuase I was one of the people that got all the plans laid out. I just wanna see what you guys think, mabye it will help me out making up my mind.

think about it man, youll be skiing and not going to the funeral will be on your mind. you probably wont be able to ski as good as you can, and itll be a shitty day and youll regret not showing up. you can ski anyday, your friend only dies once. pay your respects and make plans for another weekend

Yeah, drop in beore hand, say you have a competition, but stay like the whole day, maybe do somethings around their house for them. I dont' know, personally, there isn't any snow rihgt now in Washingotn, so i'd go the the funeral. And you only die once. i know i just contradicted myself, but your in a tight spot. go to the funeral, it's the nice thing to do since you were close to the family. it will mean a lot to them.

whatever you do, make the funeral, even for a bit. the snow probably isn't even that good anyways and if you're going up with a bunch of guys they'll understand if you don't go, contrary to what girls think of us. not a really good comparison here but when i was 11 i skipped my aunt's wedding when my family went and i always feel guilty when i see her around.

Dude, go to the funeral. There will be other days to ski. If you go skiing, you will probably suck major ass because you will feel bad about blowing off the funeral.

I am going to the funeral. the ski area is 2 hours away, so going half day wouldn't work so well. I thought about it and figured that it is much more important. Thanks for all your imput boys and girls.

why not go to the wake, which is probably on Thursday or Friday, if you guys have those too. I'm not sure. That is what I would do! Pay your respects and then go ski.

No, I think his parents are doing the right thing. That says a lot they they trust him to do what he thinks is best and shows that they trust him.

i would definately go to the funeral. i have been to a few and skipped some, and they are really hard to go to. you end up wishing you had gone when you dont, but never wishing you hadnt when you do
