im studying in scotland for the semester and its rediculous how into soccer they are here. If i were to wear the colors blue or green into a pub during a game (they wont let you in if you are wearing these colors) then i would be mugged/raped/de-penised/killed by rangers or celtic fans.

what other sport do u have to hit a small ball coming at you at over 80mph, and hit it with a stick of wood that is only about 2 inches in diameter. golf, psshh. anyone can hit a ball that's sitting there on a tee for you. soccer, the balls friggin 3 feet tall, and u can use your whole body (no hands i know) and yea real sports don't have time limits. either. (soccer, football, hockey, lacrosse etc...)

soccer's fucking fun, and a lot more intense than you'd think. i personally think it woul dbe a ton better and more interesting if the field wasnt so damn big, but its still fun.
There ARE some foot fairies, and i hate them as much as the next guy. but anyone who feels the need to call all soccer players foot fairies and not respect the sport is an insecure bitch stuck in the tough guy shit of high school. grow up.

theres always an argument about soccer, some people like it, others think its gay. like other sports u gotta be athletic, u dont get as many breaks as other sports. if jsut cause u play for a certain # of years doesnt mean ur gonna be good or anytihn u do need to actually have skills to play for a good team. people think its pussy but i dont think it is. i think football is. theres no sport like soccer where theres less protection in a similar game. in football u wear so much padding but a game like it, rugby, u dont wear any. rugby is even more dangerous then football but yeah football is still fun so

^ yeah rugby is fun.. but soccer is fun too. U actually have to "run" to the ball and don't stand still for more than 30 secs. It requires athletic skillz unlike some sports where u stand there and dont move for like an hour

Play soccer with me sometime and we'll see who the pussy is.

I played soccer from 5 years old till I was 20 and played for 2 universities, both of which were nationally ranked (just to verify the competitive level at which I played) and I can say without a doubt the sport kicks major ass. Anyone who thinks it's for pussies obviously wasn't playing at a competitive level. I've seen more henious shit on a soccer field then I've ever seen in a HS, college, or pro football game. I DO NOT have anything against any sport, especailly football, but to people saying soccer is for pussies...bitch, please. Step on the field with Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, or Vinny Jones and we'll see who the pussy is.

Aside from the aggressive and intense nature of the game, it's incredibly fluid. In order to appreciate the game, you must first understand the complexity of everything that goes on...from the simplest reception, to the most complex move, to an average long ball...the game is not all about scoring. It's also about the build up and the grace and brilliance required just to get in scoring position. A lot of it's beauty appears subtle to the untrained eye--but those of us who have played at a reasonable level understand the complexity and intensity of the game.

In general, I don't understand why people diss on sports at all. There's no way I would ever be good at golf. It's just not my sport. It's not gay, it's not lame. It's fucking incredible, actually. But I just choose not to play it cause a.) I suck and b.) I prefer sports that are more fluid and "on the fly."

In conclusion, stop fucking hating. Realize that all sports contribute to people's satisfaction and enjoyment in life. Just because people aren't slamming their 47 IQ skulls into someone else's doesnt' mean they're "pussies."

Yeah, consider your social life before you play in college, depending on how serious you plan on being with it.

Regardless, expect your life to be controlled by the coach and the team. It's a huge commitment, especially if you plan on playing top 30 Div. 1. It's really intense.

Bottomline: don't do it if you're not serious about it or else you're just going to expend VAST sums of energy for nothing.

psh, try hitting the eject button on a dirtbike (deciding your going to crash) going 50 mph...IN THE WOODS, the aftermath is soo fucking gnar, and then you have to run back to your bike, pick it up, and then kick the shit out of it, after you already raced for an hour all out with the fastest kids in the nation, your googles fog, your mind races...blah blah blah, i'm nto going into it, ahha, i just think baseball is a little two slow paced for me, no hate on it tho.

some of youpeople have no idea how hard that is...theres a difference between being good at soccer and being good at juggling and that crazy stuff. you could be an incredible player on the field but suck at juggling like that. you could be really good at juggling and if you are good at that you will be an incredible player. if you ccan move your feet that fast then your bound to be incredibly fast on the field

Yes the MLS kinda does suck, but it is improving. But, the US national team doesn't suck at all. They are actually damn good. Last time I checked they were ranked 5th in the world
