i fucking hate sugarloaf. its always freeeezing cold, windy as a hurricane, icey and the park isnt as good or as big as sr. Plus sugarloaf is in the middle of no ware, and so is sunday river but at least you have Bethel and some places to chill and eat and stuff. I'll be at sunday riva everyday for the next 2 years

i like sunday river a lot better, but sometimes if the snow is real good skiing the woods at the loaf can be a blast, sugarloaf is always freezing however and shuts down on wind delay more than any mountain ive ever been too

Sunday River has better parks, while Sugarloaf has a lot of vertical and gets more snow

adrian, you're just saying that cause you're at effing gould. i have a pass to both and go to sugarloaf every weekend...it's more challenging than the river, terrain-wise. plus, everyone at the loaf is so chill. and i'll be there...so...ski with me!

Loaf... Its more challenging, has better steeps, and if your 21 there are enough places to chill and get wasted with locals.... Also the loaf is expanding the park this year and making it bigger and better and the pipe has always had a good rep!!

def sunday river...sugarloaf's lifts blow. they only got 2 high speeds and one is in the family area. the other is the main lift where everyone goes so the line is huge. the river has like 7 all over the place. The park is so much better quality too.

Sugarloaf, and here's why... Not only is the terrain better (look at the websites and compare stats, its pitiful that sunday river has that many peaks and still less terrain), but some of these little thigns like a little more distance or a few degrees colder, narrow out a lot of people. You get less idiots at sugarloaf and just people who are there to ski, not fuck around or go to a fashion show

personaly i think the atmosphere is a lot more laid back at the river, seemed like there were a lot of rich "im better than u" nose in the air types at the loaf, but its prob different if ur ridin with the locals and stuff, i dont go there enough to know the ins and outs

whaaaaat?^ the atmosphere at sugarloaf is definitely more relaxed than the river's. go to the bag or tufulio's on a saturday night. all the locals are just ski bum hippies. the snooty people are only there over vacations.

For all I care I hope everyone goes to Sunday River. Hell, its closer, has a better park and has more hot chocolate, mass holes, new yorkers, expensive everything, and a whole lot of people fighting over the same blue terrain...yeah...go to SR and have at it. You WIN! Its all yours.

any one know any reasonable places to stay at either the Loaf or Sunday river...I don't car if it is a motel 8 15 miles away...just something that is not 100 bucks a night per person

There's quite a few surrounding Sugarloaf that are just off the mountain. I forget the names because i have a place up there but if you do a little research you should be able to find about 4 or 5 that are fairly cheap and within 10 minutes of the mountain

I have been to both and I personally liked Sunday River better. It could have been because when I went to Sugarloaf it was the shittiest conditions ever. Even if the conditions were better at Sugarloaf I think Sunday River would still be a better choice. So go with Sunday River.
