Actually it's only 40% dipshit. Are you that fucking retarded that you don't undterstand who retail works. Okay in order for the ski industry to work everybody has to be making profit and the only way to do that is by selling things at MORE (are you staying with me there kiddo I know this is a complicted concept) than what they cost to produce. The producers sell the skis to ski shops at 40% below MSRP(manufacture's suggeted retail price). The ski shops then sell the skis at or below that price. Now if you are complete moron right now you might be thinking "Jesus they make up to 40% profit on each pair of skis". No, ever heard of overhead. It costs a shit ton to run a shop. From employee wages to the electricity bill to rent all of those things come directly out of that 40% markup. Most skis shops take home around 10% on each pair of skis if they are lucky. The owner of the shop where I work only put about $15,000 into his own pocket last year which is why in a couple weeks I'm going to be unemployed. So there you go now you know how reatil stores work and why skis must be marked up so high. Now quit your bitching and go by some skis from your local ski shop so they'll be around next year.

It is so important to support your local shops because they don't make a lot of money on hardgoods (skis, snowboards, skate...) with all the overhead expensis, I'm suprised there are still local shops in business. stop supporting the big corporate chains and start supporting the local guys
