Mad Trix Skis

I have a question for everyone. If/when I need to replace my Dragons (hopefully not mid-season), would the 191 mad trix be a good all-mtn twin to replace them with? I need something long since I tele-turn (and with my size, I need the 188-195 range to keep from crossing skis when I drop a turn). I had thought about the Bandit XX, but the tail is only 20mm which won't do much for me when I want to ride switch out west (you can ride switch on anything in the mid-Atlantic *sigh*)

I'm 6'3 190. My Dragons are 193. If I was riding with training heels (i.e. alpine), I'd go shorter, but for big folks who tele, shorter skis can sometimes cause problems. Besides, I'm not big on grinding - just speed and air

well i guess that is a pretty good size for you. you might be able to go a little shorter though

the 181's with a 190lb. guy? i don't really reccomend it. he telemarks so he's probably usually in pow. what i suggest even though i love the madtrix is forget 'em all together and get an 'actual' all-mountain twin that's at least 84mm at the waist. Atomic Stomps, Line Mothership, etc. etc.

The Dragons only have a 74mm waist. I'm mostly on east-coast hardpack, but I usually do a week-long trip out west each year. I tend to ride big though, hence the Dragons and the interest in aprx 190cm skis as a replacement. My other thought may be the Volkl V pro (190 with an 80mm waist)

i would go for the v-pro.. its got a wider waist for that trip out west. its also good on the groomers and air.

Would the V Pro carve well enough in the east though? I can't afford multiple skis, so need something that will work both east and west (even better yet, I need my current skis not to get messed up this season!)

Dude, there is no such thing as BC in the east. Our idea of 'fresh snow' is 1' of natural over a base of manmade

I think that the Mad Trix would be decent, so would the V-Pro. The V-Explosive may not be too bad either, it may be a little big, but I've heard it can still rip. Don't bother with Atomics, you have to use their binding system, which obviously doesn't work for you.

Oh yeah, thanks to everyone for all the input. Let's just hope FedEx doesn't f*ck my gear up shipping it to the hotel (of course, that would give me a chance to get brand new gear)

last winter i tele skier on mad trix placed 2 or 3 in big air with a cork 9, it was sick
