I've skied the glacier at Hintertux. It's good. It the glacier also has some steeper terrain, so you're not stuck on the flats up high all the time.
Austria is generally cheaper than Switzerland (but not by much). Personally I think I'd go back to Hintertux before Saas Fee. It's less ritzy and has a more chill attitude. However, Saas Fee has stepped it up in the park and pipe department since Warren Smith has been organizing the Saas Fee Ride (verbierride.com).

The bbc.com website is also a good source for European weather reports. From my experience, conditions in the Alps can vary greatly from region to region. Even a drive of two hours can change everything. Let the conditions and weather be your guide. . .
