saas fee is always good. i think they have a world cup fis soon, so it will be in good condition, no doubt

yeah, saas is good...the kickers are always nice but it lacks in rails...Zermatt is better for all round park features. both have killer pipes

saas fee is good, but i prefer zermatt, i go there in 2 weeks. zermatt has a great pipe, a few good kickers and some pretty nasty rails, but also some beginner ones.

It's an expensive village, that's for sure. No cars, you have to park in a parking garage and then walk through town to the gondola. The park and pipe seemed pretty good. Not great, just good (that's typical for Europe, though, and this is one of the better locations for park and pipe in Switzerland) They're both up on the glacier and you can bet that the snow will be OK even if the rest of the mountain is shitty. Unfortunately for us, it was, so the only skiing we did was pipe and super-fast high speed groomers from the top to the bottom. A fun but not ideal situation.

Oh, and to save money, we stayed down valley from the ski area. . .in our car! One day was enough for me.

their website says Snowpark Hintertux has been opened and they got some new snow a few days ago also

I've skied the glacier at Hintertux. It's good. It the glacier also has some steeper terrain, so you're not stuck on the flats up high all the time.

Austria is generally cheaper than Switzerland (but not by much). Personally I think I'd go back to Hintertux before Saas Fee. It's less ritzy and has a more chill attitude. However, Saas Fee has stepped it up in the park and pipe department since Warren Smith has been organizing the Saas Fee Ride (verbierride.com).

I'd say watch the snow and go where the conditions are best. A cool site with a lot of Euro webcams is www.snoweye.com.

The bbc.com website is also a good source for European weather reports. From my experience, conditions in the Alps can vary greatly from region to region. Even a drive of two hours can change everything. Let the conditions and weather be your guide. . .
