no kidding idiot... there are obviously ski tests where they cover the top sheet (Skiing always has pictures of that crap in their review). That isn't the point though. The point is that people aren't retarded and will figure it out. This Jizzybeth girl is preaching all this scientific method crap about how they should have done their test and how they didn't ski on the skis that they reviewed. I seriously doubt she knows anymore than anyone else who reads the magazine but she is preaching like she is some great scientist who is going to restore order to the corrupt world of ski testing with her fantastic method of science. All I know is that in the article it says that they tested skis in the backcountry. That is pretty sweet and it is pretty stupid to put up all these posts chattering about “scientific method� and how they didn’t do a good job. Izzybeth and Mr. Bishop, if you really want to know what skis are good you should go talk to my cousin Miko at Gart Sports… he can hook you up with a sweet pair of K2 t-nine’s (girl specific).

Yeah, until you look at the base of the ski and see a big SALOMON on it!

I'll bet the people - pros, ski instructors, magazine staffers, shop dudes - who do the Ski and Skiing tests are smart enough to figure it out.

They're certainly smarter than lizzibeth, that's for sure. . .

Sorry girlie, but scentific method means controlling a hell of a lot more than you can control on the mountain. If Ski and Skiing used scientific method, they'd use only one tester for everything, one run and one tuning guy. They don't. so quit insulting my intelligence and everyone else's here by claiming that those mags do. Covering skis w. duct tape does not a scientific test make.

Cool, then I await your ski test and look forward to it.

If my opinion that you can't have a scientific ski test pisses you off, then create one.

Until then, I stand by my opinion regarding the fact that logos on the bottom of skis give brands away and that the ever changing nature of a mountain torpedos your "scientific method".

And until you actually get paid to travel and ski around the globe I wouldn't claim to have "more experience in the industry" than I. Because you don't. And, sadly for you since you're claiming it, you probably never will.

they could have controlled more factors in their ski "test", not all of them. i never said all of them could ever be controlled. if they wanted it to be ligit, i think they should have done more to make it more scientific. but they didn't and so that's how it goes. yes, the bases do give them away, but know how that can be solved? don't fucking cheat and look at them. simple.

i thought it was really helpful. the only downside, sometimes it didnt distinguish between a jib stick, and an all mountain ski. it was really complete though, so many new companies.

Really? Hmm, don't be so sure. And I'm not talking about ski instructing or patrolling, although those jobs can be really cool.

But that doesn't matter.

This thread is about ski testing. I have my opinion, others have theirs. I respect their options, even lizziebeth's. She falls on the other side of the fence than I do, though, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

Ultimately all any of the mags can do is point you in the right direction. It's probably best to ski on stuff yourself, though demos can be expensive. Also good would be to swap equipment with your friends, particularly if they ski on other set ups. It's all about educating yourself and knowing excactly what you want. After that it's about getting the best price on what you want. Which can be harder than knowing what you want!

I think I've probably said all I can say on this particular subject and don't really have much more to offer. . .
