my PE's are probably gonna be fucked before the season starts so i'll be rocking my 188 scratches for everything. i guess if your skis are mounted more centre than regular it may be better.
for someone whos 5 9', a 178 is not a short ski, its about right, a 183 would be the longest you wanna go in park, unless all you plan on doing is 360s and straight on straight off rails
why the hell are people getting such long ass skis, becuz short skis look gay? and everyone says long skis look steezy? get the ones that are the right size for you 189 is outtacontrol for park especially if your 5 8

sking with no poles is fun, but its like geting head from a guy, it's fun until you realize that you are gay- humofrio
long skis are the way to go, but too long isn't good either. im 6' and im skiing 182 for park this year, so 189 sounds alittle long for someone whos 5'9. But if you like super long, i bet you could get away with 182s also.
eh I rode 185's from 2002 to 2004 and I'm only 5' 7". It all depends on how you learned to ski actually. If you actually learned how to ski when you were younger, you will feel more in control with longer skis. If you never truly learned how to ski, then you will hate longer skis. I have a preference for longer skis
I'm 6'3" and I have 185 ARV's, 178 Invaders, and 172 mad_trix... yeah 172. Don't be afraid of a shorter ski... its easier to throw around and unless you have the balance of a drunken hobo then you'll be fine with your correct size ski...like a 175-180...but 189 is getting a little crazy.
180+ is fine for a park ski, remember the tail is flared up so your riding lengths is actually shorter. I used to ride 186 pollards and i couldnt tell the difference when spining etc...

is "cotton field gorilla" a racial slur?
i ski 186 in the park....if you really look at it, the entire range of skis available is not even that varied...say, from 164 to 186, i think that is the length of lines, that is only like a 9 inch difference, and that is the entire range of manufactured skis.
ill be super rich and own mt.hood and let everybody from ns ski for free... except freezed

if the 189cm ski your looking at is a Seth Vicious or pistol do remember that they run longer than 189cm, more around 193cm. The 179 seth pistol is about 182cm. So, if your looking for a park only ski it maybe a little long. You'll get by but at times you may wish it was a little shorter.
as far as an everyday ski that will work in the park 189 is good. I'm 5'10" and a 189 seth vicious is my everyday ski. just mount somewhat foward so they are easy to throw around.
