the coolest little tidbit of information i picked up one time while watching the discovery channel, was that when an sr71 is in flight, its engines actually expand by 11 inches... that's how hot they get.

the sr-71 is still a relevant spy plane to this day. no other plane, stealth or not can fly as fast or get to a part of the world as quickly to take photos, and i think it still flies the highest out of the fleet. it leaks fuel on the runway because the joints tighten up as it flies, they have a special tool for the nose because the titanium skin gets speed wrinkle sometimes. and it's been found that becuase of the heat that it generates on the skin of the plane at speeds that the titanium gets stronger as the life of the plane gets older. so it should still be in service still today.
