Ski/Snowboarding Conflict

Alright...to make a long story short....i have been fightin with some snowboarders at school about which is harder and more respectable, skiing or snowboarding? Anywayz, i don't want skiing to look like shit. They basically say skiing is too easy and they wanted a harder challenge like snowboarding. So....post up some reasons or facts or sumthing that i could use against them to get my point across. Any help is apprecaited.
Ps. I know this a dumb message....but i really wanna make these pissheads look like shit.

Well i don't know if this is true but i heard that after 1 yr of snowboarding you can do the same amount of things as a person that has skied for 7 yrs. Not sure if its true but i have heard it a few times...meaning skiing is 7 times harder.

snowboarding's harder? well i've never tried it but apparently there's a steeper learning curve but after a few days you're way beyond beginner skiers. think about it, for skiing u start off snowplowing and that's easy but boarders gotta go edge-to-edge and that feels unnatural when u start off. but after that skiing seems harder, i mean how many times have we seen beginner snowboarders go down black runs just by going down the mount by basically putting their boards horizontally and not turning?

snowboarding is mad easy to learn. They dont have to go threw as much technicaly stuff to learn how to handle the board on like normal slopes. railsliding on skis is a hell of a lot harder than on a snowboard, but i have no clue if jumping on a board is harder or easier.

Switch: Simply going straight down the mountain is not snowboarding anymore than it is skiing. Sure, snowboarding is easy to learn. That does not make the overall sport easier than skiing. I would not say that one is easier than the other, just that the way skills are gained is different.
I have done both and find that they are of equal difficulty, but as I said above, the areas that posess the ease and difficulty are different.

man, on my high school ski club, there were 45 snowboarders and 5 skiers. i copped sooo much shit, and this was like 4 years ago when new schoolin was just starting to emerge. JF was in the mags with his mute and japan backflips and real easy spinnin tricks. but all i did was boost way bigger in the park and pipe, and fuckin tear up the pow ahead of the boarders, that got their respect. I think my only goal for that year was to pull basic grabs, and a 360. no one was even thinkin of switch takeoff and landing

Tricks especially, skiing is way harder, AND looks a lot cooler in the air! Having two skis instead of one board in the air makes it harder to balance, control, land, tweak, anything....skiing is way harder, but also more fun!! haha

how do you plan on gttting respected if you keep ripping on snowboarders and the tricks they do. i look up to snowboarders more so than skiers, and probably becuase of htat i have no problem with them and they have no problem with me.

I am led to believe that snowboarding is much, MUCH easier.
One day, just for kicks, I took a board out of the rental shop at my mountain and after about an hour I was linking turns no problem.
Maybe it's easier for people who are already good skiiers?
anyway, tell them to try skiing for a day and you can go take pictures of them falling all over the benny hill...lol...

the think you have to remember is that there both related. So if you have been skiing for 15 years and then picked up snowboarding it will be easier because you have some sort of a sense of how to do it. You know how to edge skis and have air control so its only an adjustment time. That might be why snowboarding seems like it is easier to get good at, but if you have never done either one, i'm not not sure which would be easer.

'snow boarding tricks are flat no style.' what are you talking about our tricks originated from snowboarding. snowboarders have crazy style just watch movies like afterbang and optigrab. Snowboarding does has a longer learnings curve, but once you get the basics it becomes easier. skiing takes like a day to learn the basics then awhile to learn and special skills. Thats the only difference. I hate all the skiing vs. snowboarding bullshit. If we want to pick fights with anyone why don't we beat the shit out of nordic skiers or something. Snowboardings cool and so is skiing. there is no need for any of this bullshit. it's all good. everyone gets along now, back 5 years ago it was a different story, but it's all changed. the only people who argue are the newbies who either ski or snowboard and feel the need to prove themselves. If anything the olders skiers should be beatint he shit out of lippy little skiers and snowboarders do the same thing. all this argument is gay. go smoke a joint and chill.

SNOWBOARDING MAY BE EASIER TO LEARN INITIALLY BUT IS JUST AS DIFFICULT AND TAKES JUST AS MUCH SKILL AS SKIING TO BE REALLY GOOD AT.
And for those of you who don't think that snowboarding doesn't look as good in the air, or doesn't have as much style, first of all, that is your bias opinion, second of all, you're retarded.

Considering that if it weren't for some Nordic folks that originally made skis to simply get from place to place, none of you would be skiing at all, it makes no sense to rip on Nordic skiers. Besides, I am sure there are free-heelers out there (I am not saying I have that much skill yet) that could rip harder and faster than half the people on this board.

I always bitch about how much skiing sucks to the snowboarders. I even made a T-shirt once that said 'No skiers in the park' and had a picture of a skier doing a mute grab with a big cross through it. I wore those around. It was comedy.

Yeah, after skiing a few times, i know respect most of the snowboarders. This is really their first year where they actually give props to us at my hill, and this completely changed my view on them. My first night out this year i pulled a kicked-out lu kang, and they were actually all cheering me on after a few more trick attempts (I fell cause first night). There are still the ones that sit on their butts, but i stay away from them. Lanemeyers, lose it dude. I'm done ripping snowboarding, no need for the super-defensive act anymore. Ski on

my intire crew waited for his ass at the bottem of the hill and beat the shit out of him. i broke his poles agianst a tree, and we snapped one of his skis. fucker got uppercutted so much. he was bleeding from his eyes and shit, crying like a little pussy. i busted out a body slam on his ass and broke both of his arms. the ski patroler broke up the fight and clipped all of our tickets. we where gonna beat the shit out of the patroller but my mom came to pick us up.
