A very LEGIT reason. The less people that know about an item, the better, because it wont be bid on as much. If it's by someone on here, then by all means promote your item, but if it isnt, It is really counter-productive to be posting it here, because you are just informing more people about it, and jacking up the price. Its basically the same as throwing in bids just to inflate the price, when you dont actually want the item. I am not trying to "cheat" the seller out of any money, because certain people have certain price boundries, and they usually wont go above those. However, when you increase the number of people bidding and watching, you get "adrenaline bidders" who will go above their initial price cap just to win, and then decide not to go through with purchasing the item. This isnt something that happens all the time, but I've seen it plenty. Even by me replying to this thread and bumping it up, I'm more or less raising the price for myself and anyone who is interested in these, but I had to explain myself :P Now these skis will probably be bid up well out of my price range. Thanks

And someone who is willing to pay more for them than you will be able to buy them, and the person who does that wouldn't have found them if I haden't made this thread, so... STFU n00b

And the current bid is at 66 bucks so I think you can still afford them...

The person who wouldn't have found them otherwise, doesn't deserive to find them. Yea that sounds cruel and mean, but think about it.
If someone offered you a pair of skis for free, and said someone else could have a pair of skis for free as well, who would you tell? I doubt you would just tell any random person and let them have the skis. Thats a bit of an exaggerated example, but its the same thing here.
There is a limited quantity of the item, and it is something that is "fairly" available to people who are looking for that sort of thing. But by broadcasting it to everyone, not only those who found it by their own means are potentially harmed, but the people who wouldnt have found it on their own are harmed as well, because then you have more people, all fighting for the one item, thus turning it into a feeding frenzy. The more people that are fighting for a single "potential deal", the less of a deal it becomes.

Dandoy is right, you need to shut your face, blackcat. While I can see your point, the function of Ebay is to sell stuff to whoever will pay the most, period. If you want to pay more than someone else to get it, then do it. But, don't complain that other people might outbid you just because you thought you were one of few that saw it

Talk down on me all you want, I know anyone here would have the EXACT same attitude I do, if it was something they had been looking for.

yeah I know I would share your opinion, but I woldn't be so closeminded as to argue and get pissed at the person who "exposed" the product (if it really was a good deal) to other people...

I agree with blackcat, let people find their own auctions, just don't blow up other peoples.
