in skateboarding its a whole shitload easier and cheaper. whereas in skiing they take expensive trips to exotic locations shooting 16mm and whatnot, skateboarders grab a couple vx1000's and drive around and get shots much easier..

Ski companies would rather see their athletes get coverage in a number of films as opposed to just one... it provides a better chance for a greater number of people to see their athlete with their product. It makes their marketing dollars go further when they have skiers in mutliple films.

Making a team skate video is about 99,998 times easier than making a team ski video... grab your crew of skaters, and a VX2000, rent a van and drive into a huge urban city, shoot for a few weeks. presto: Skate Team Video.

"getting the shot" is much more complicated and expensive in skiing. Producing a high caliber feature lenth 16mm team video could cost upwards of 200,000 Dollars. A single ski company won't pay that much money for a single video. Even the Oakley Team video 'session 1242' had sponsors that contributed aside from oakley, and they are damn near a billion dollar company. Its to much money and not enough exposure for their athletes. As I mentioned before, to get the most bang for their buck companies distribute their dollars and their athletes accross a number of video producers.

Furthermore, Thomas_Skier, you are in no possition to be questioning what you think is "Pep's lack of commitment to PBP". You don't know the first thing about it.

I have to agree with Dave on this one. Making White Shine was hard beacause everyone was on the same team. And that ski movies are so damn expensive to make.

But I still think a samller company like Ninthward could maybe pull it off as skiers on that team would feel more motivated to push a smaller company and what it represents. Smaller companies are like familly's, they woudl want to make it work. But it still wouldn't be like anything that is being done right now. It would be a dope movie, but the money wouldn't be there.

Pep's was over 3:20 seconds long, and its the best part in the movie... all killer, no filler. Length does not equal the best part.

In Summary, skate videos have team videos in which all of the riders commit to that video and have solid parts. I wish ski videos were like that. Why is that not possible in skiing?

That's what I would call a lecture with moral overtones. My reply is that I'm not questioning Pep's integrity by pointing out that he didn't film exclusively with Poor Boyz. I'm only pointing out that if Pep had filmed with Poor Boyz in the same way that Jamie Thomas, for example, filmed with Toy Machine in Welcome to Hell, then maybe Pep's closing segment in War would have been as epic as Jamie Thomas' closing segment.
I think Pep is the best skier in the world, and I know he wouldn't think I was disrespecting him if he read this.
