Center mount

is center mounting only good for park? how big of a difference does it make with pop, ollies, and spin? also, would it affect all mountain riding?

i got my ar5 mounted 1 inch behind true center.

its simple (in general, but there are some effects that you cant calculate at all)

every inch that you mount them infront of the "normal" point the nose gets more aggressive when skiing on groomers. the tail gets longer so its easier to land and ride switch.

as i said i dont ride true center because i dont ski only park, the guy at the shop told me that they will get to aggressive when on true center. but it depends on the ski, would be good if you got to test your setup before you buy it....

when you centermount the ski feels like it's hunting a bit. it's harder to just lay the bases flat and not turn because the ski feels like it always wants to be in a turn, which is what gives it that hunting feeling. but don't worry, cuz that feeling goes away in 3 or 4 days when you get used to the centermounted ski. it's a lot better for switch riding too.

I've got my fujatives 1 inch behind
having an inch back gives you control in pow and big mountain but you still have the easyness of spining and the pop that you have at center mount

I have my juvys center mounted and i rode them at squaw the last day of the season. Felt like i was gonna fall forward because of the slush. I had to ride back seat the whole time.

yeah it depends on the ski and how you ski. the only way i would go true center is for a park only ski. an inch or so back will still spin easyand feel a little more natural on the grooomers. In powder i would keep the mount at reccommended to keep your tips up so your not on your heels unless your ski is super wide like 110 waist

i hate the idea of center mounting. Its not where the ski is meant to be mounted. It doens't ski as well but it will help a little in the park. If you are commiting those skis to the park and park only then centermounting isn't that bad. I'd still mount back 1 inch or so.

word, you can get away with it on groomers but if you actualy ski I sure as hell wouldn't recommend it. Or since you guys ride switch so damn much (since it's more comfortable than riding forward) You should consider mountain your skis like 3 inches forward of center, then you would be the ultimate park rat.

last season i got my troublemakers centermounted. had no problems skiing with them on groomers and they preformed excelent i the park. riding switch is so fucken easyer. my older concepts are like -3 and they feel like shit going and landing backwards. i use fatskis for powderdays.

I donno what your talking about I have both my scratch Bc's and Fs's mounted center, it rockes, I have no problems with carving andjust riding, I even got 2 and 3 in the 2 skier cross events we ahd this year, and i was riding my fs with little edge agains racers in spandex and on gs skis

don't know who said it but quote... "center mounted skis are for people who don't ski anything but park." or something along those lines.
center mounted skis do make things a bit easier in the park but it definately doesn't mean you can't ski hard outside of the park. if you're skiing hard outside of the park down some crazy lines and weird snow, then i would consider that person a better skier then someone who has to rely on their ski postioning. and it does make skiing switch a lot easier inside/outside of the park. its just a preference. try it or don't.

bassicly it makes skiing forward harder and switch easier. There's a lot more to it but that's the basics. But if you have a hard time skiing forward on centermounted skis you need to work on your skiing some more cause it's not a drastic difference. Also center mount isnt actually mounted at the center of the ski. It's like 7 cm back or somthing but you can get them truly centermounted as well

actually centermount means just that, mounted at the center of the ski. there are, however, different definitions of center. also, some skis are designed to ski perfectly normal when centermounted, like the invaders and mojos. personally, i dont think it really does that much on your average twin tip, a few centimeters forward or standard mount is usually plenty since the sidecut is generally pushed forward anyway.

well i just got some ar5's and i want these skis to be concentrated on the park, only time they wont be in the park will be on the groomers to and from the park, as well as to some powder jumps for some hucking... what would you say, center or maybe a little off???

just fuckin center mount them. people exagerate the difference it makes. I ride my ar5s center mounted and I even take them in powder no problem.

I've skied in plenty of knee-waist deep pow with my center mounted concepts (70mm waist). You can ride center-mounts in anything once you really get used to it. And it kicks so much ass for skiing switch in any type of snow.
