tanners Gorilla style

Tanners on snow stlye sux. I'll give him he has helped lead gred advancements in skiing, but the 'Gorilla Style' is the worst thing since knee high ski boots. What ever happened to the balanced body position? Look at the great skiers such as douglas, Sczocs, JL Regnier. They all know how wasteful( in energy), injury proned and ugly stle this is and would never include it in their skiing. Thumbs down to tanners on snow style.
And another thing, all younger park riders need to know how to ski before riding parks. Yesterday at Killington was the prime example of losers who could huck- at least spin and slide (rails), but couldn't turn, even on the flats to save their lives. they rode in the gorilla stance and all of us older folks who know how to ski definately made fun of them. It felt good to heckle people like i was a kid again.

my intire crew waited for his ass at the bottem of the hill and beat the shit out of him. i broke his poles agianst a tree, and we snapped one of his skis. fucker got uppercutted so much. he was bleeding from his eyes and shit, crying like a little pussy. i busted out a body slam on his ass and broke both of his arms. the ski patroler broke up the fight and clipped all of our tickets. we where gonna beat the shit out of the patroller but my mom came to pick us up.

I can't believe the style of a few riders is such a big deal. There are like 80 threads on this board asking such questions as, 'is it okay?' and then there was this thread. 'Don't ski like them, be yourself and ski like me!' No one wants to hear you talk again, ever...anywhere.

and everyone who says a lot of new school skiers these days cant actually ski for shit, well if u ski some of the local hills in mass or nj, there is nothing else worth skiing u damn morons, so of course they wont be good all around skiers

Hey Ozzy I agree with you man, it really is not fun to watch and IN MY OPINION it is the wrong direction for the sport. Unfortunetely you won't get many intelligent responses to this thread, people are so stuck in the mindset of 'do whatever you want as long as you have fun', that they refuse to even think of what type of skiing might be easier, harder, or looking better.

pollards style in the park is totally diffrent than people like Mike D. big mountain, In big mountain ridinding you dont have a nice little groomed run to ski on, you got to be focused. where as in park riding its just about being comfortable

I don't really like the full blown knuckles on the gorund, but it sure is a hell of alot better then the old cucumber up your ass skiing. wouldn't cha sy.

um, seeing as though the whole stance was taken from the way pro snowboarders ride (where people like pollard, frazier and griffen got the idea) definitely makes 'gorilla steeze' come from all over, not just ht hood. for all you know some asshole in france was skiing like that in 1970.

I agree with ozzy. Gorilla style (steeze isn't a fuckin word) is just ugly. I find it looks forced and as if Tanner is really trying hard at looking different. Its no a natural ski stance and if you try and ski any type of technical type ski run (moguls or big mountain or even anything stype) its not gonna fucking work.

my take on the issue is this... i would never ski that way anywhere except the 20 ft before a jump. im really tall, so staying low off the lip is important. i tried the other day keeping lower off the lip, and it made everything way easier for me...from just straightairs to spins... i think the idea of staying low into the jump is a good idea, i dont think my hands were at my boots or anything, but you getthe picture... i agree with the olsson argument that the style i horendous anywhere besides the in-run.

everyone keeps saying that skiing like that wouldn't work for big mountain. yeah maybe not in the most EXTREME sense, but if you watch most of the sick riders they crouch lower and keep their legs apart and keep their hands down, especially when they straightline. only real difference is they don't lean as much forward. you wouldn't ski like that in other terrain either. if you fuckers are too stupid to realize that different techniques are needed for different terrain then you need to go back to ski school. when someone says gorilla style is stupid because it wouldn't work in the moguls, they are basically stating 'HEY EVERYBODY, I AM A FUCKING NUMBSKULL' i don't see anyone tlaking about the style of mogul skiing being gay because it wouldn't work in a downhill race. are you people fucking kidding me? get a clue

ok, i find that having 'gorilla style' on a rail increases your balance and stability on a rail, especially on urban kinked rails. before if i stood up more i would get fucked up on kinks, especially harsh ones. now when i crouch and keep my arms low i can absorb kinks better and SAFER and i don't eat my shit...

whatever tanner does, be it gorrila style or gorrila steeze may not look good to some people, but I don't think you are in any position to critize. I don't see on the top of the podium of the X-games 2 years in a row.

Personally, I don't think that it looks that good, but I don't really care. If it helps you get set up before a jump or a rail, then do it, all you bitches who are yelling about should shut the fuck up, you can't ski as well as him. Secondly, I'm sure tanner doesn't ski like that all over the mountain, its just a way to prep before jumps. The guy grew up in Montana, not in a park or something like that, so I'm sure he can ski.

You should all stop bitching, and focus on your own skiing.

yes I have the stereotype dvd and no I don't think dash looks anything like tanner. dash and pollard look a lot alike to me, compact with their knees slightly bent. tanner has his all the way bent; he's almost sitting down. and his hands are practically on the snow. I think dash and pollard look a lot better.
